I didn't see it. I have no interest. But I highly recommend Oppenheimer.

A lot of the movie's commercial success rides on the Barbie toy brand, which is the most popular global girl toy brand, thus appealing to women around the world who grew up with it and have a very strong connection to it, a very large market.

I liked Gerwig's earlier work, like Frances Ha, but I haven't seen any of her more recent films and this one doesn't appeal to me.

There appears to be some deep-seated cultural problem with conservative white men in this country and I don't see any course correction happening right now. Perhaps this is just the sort of thrashing around that happens after the erosion of unearned privilege but it seems like we have a large group of losers who want everything to be laid at their feet. I guess that's why they fell for that Jordan Peterson quack who calmed their fears by telling them they just need to make their beds.

I think Bill Maher is very funny. I have watched Real Time for years but the show has jumped the shark because the quality of the guests has nosedived over the years.

He has never been married and that is fine, but it has made him a very self focused person. As a father, I find his hate on children offensive. He views everything in life from one perspective: how it impacts him personally. Like Clapton and Van Morrison, Covid safety protocols drove him schizoid because it impacted his stand up gigs. He didn't give a rat's @$$ about healthcare workers getting shredded in ERs around the country.

Ironically, I thought the Real Time shows he filmed in his backyard were funnier than his studio shows. Maybe he tried harder.

He is also a proselytizing atheist. Being an atheist is fine, but why is he so hung up on spreading the word? I keep my religious beliefs private. In my experience, those that don't are a giant pain the rear.

So he has personal and political views based on his own personal experience. He has his own opinions instead of marching to any one party's edict. He is very anti-religion and anti-censorship. But he is also very anti-woke and anti-cancel culture. Good for him that he has his own thoughts. Clearly I don't agree with him on most things, but I respect that he will express what he believes even if he will end up insulting everyone.
