People are just nuts. Here are five good examples from around the world (you may have additions)...

Russia/Ukraine: Why do all that fighting? Putin mostly at fault and I get Ukraine defending their country, but people are crazy...

Israel/Palestine: What a s*** show! Hamas and fundamentalist Islam take a lot of the blame, but they're all crazy. Hey, live and let live.

Trump: Unless you're dumber than a bag of rocks or scared he'll end your political career, cut the man loose, for God's sake! People are crazy...

The Speaker of the House stuff: What are you people, crazy?

Cal Football: We are awesome, but we may be in the process of notching our FOURTH losing season in a row. And how many more years does the coach have on his contract? FOUR! That's crazy!

People are crazy. Absolutely crazy.

I agree with Big C.
My faith in humanity is dashed.

I grew up in good times and high really high hopes for the future. The horrors of WW2 and Vietnam was in the past. Then, the Berlin Wall fell and it seemed like a prosperous world order was on the horizon.

But now we have suicide bombers/pilots, religious crusaders, political liars, voters who believe them, deceptive and brainwashing propaganda news outlets, global warming that is out of control, and more wars.

I shudder to consider where planet earth will be in the year 2100. The beat will still be going on. But who wants to witness the flooding of so many major cities, that pollution going to the sea, and the remaining global population fighting over everything else, beginning with finding a place to live. Environmental refugees.

In 1800, a new continent was open for expansion and growth. Madison's Manifest Destiney, coast to coast.

By 2000, it looks like the beginning of the end.

My, that changed fast.

Now, I know doomsayers have been predicting this for a long time, so I'll accept that I'm just another in a long chain. But, like I said, I shudder to consider what planet earth will look like in 2100. I mean, we humans still have all those nukes, too! That Armageddon we forgot about.

In your lifetime you will wander the Wasteland with your sawed off and faithful mutt, scavenging for petrol and metal scraps.

"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than to be selfish and worry about my liver."

I don't think dozens of nukes will go.
But some day a terrorist like bin Laden or er whoever did Oct 7 from Gaza will just suddenly evaporate cities like NYC. Could be anywhere. The world will be shocked, but will it be all that shocking?
Absolutely not.
We're merely waiting for it.

Who can disagree?

Dude #1 met a girl on Facebook.
They meet.
She says let's go see my uncle.
Uncle is not an uncle.
The 3 get in dude #1's car.

Girl and non-uncle slash dude #1's throat, rob him, tell him he's going to die, throw him off a bridge.

Dude #1 survives, swims, passes out on shore. Boater finds dude, who explains to police.

Girl and non-uncle arrested.
They had lit the stolen car on fire, by the way.

Yes, people are crazy.

Hey Tom, there is good news for you on the global worming front if you open your mind to other scientists: https://issuesinsights.com/2023/10/25/the-latest-on-global-warming-is-there-is-no-global-warming/

Will buy you a top dog if you are willing to read and discuss.

I like the approach in your post.

Unfortunately, that is a really stupid argument.

Quote:

"Even if recent recorded temperature variations should turn out to deviate from previous variation patterns in a systematic way it is still a difficult challenge to establish how much of this change is due to increasing man-made emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases."

The researchers, from Statistics Norway, the government's official data agency, also address the apparent "high degree of consensus among many climate researchers that the temperature increase of the last decades is systematic (and partly man-made)," while noting that "is certainly the impression conveyed by the mass media."

Of course the climate zealots won't like the study. Well, they also won't like another new paper, this one from University of Alabama in Hunstville climate scientists Roy Spencer and John Christy, who have submitted Urban Heat Island Effects in U.S. Summer Surface Temperature Data, 1880-2015 to a science journal.

Read The Latest On Global Warming … There Is No Global Warming, Part II

They believe they have demonstrated "that, not only do the homogenized ('adjusted') dataset not correct for the effect of the urban heat island (UHI) on temperature trends, the adjusted data appear to have even stronger UHI signatures than in the raw (unadjusted) data."

According to Spencer, "the bottom line is that an estimated 22% of the U.S. warming trend, 1895 to 2023, is due to localized UHI effects," and that "the effect is much larger in urban locations."

In other words, our words, the temperature record we're expected to accept without question is a sham an argument we've been making for more than 20 years.

1. I mentioned global warming. I did not mention attribution.
You sent me something that concedes warming but attacks attribution.

2. Your article apparently wants to pin all of it on urban heat islands?
What about the melting mountain and polar ice?

What am I missing?

You are missing one small-but-important detail. You are talking about global warming, but he specifically referred to "global worming"... two completely different phenomena!

... so maybe show it to your cats or something.
