I always like to advise MAGA idiots not to slip up and let their inner stupidity show at cocktail parties and such, lest those who overhear lose all respect.

Well, Kelsey Grammer didn't get the memo in a BBC interview. Dumbass!
I now have no interest in watching his reboot or his reruns.

Kelsey Grammer's BBC interview cut short after Donald Trump remarks, host claims

A BBC host claims Kelsey Grammer's interview with the British broadcaster was cut short after he voiced his support for former President Donald Trump.
A BBC host claims Kelsey Grammer's interview with the British broadcaster was cut short after he voiced his support for former President Donald Trump.

For Kelsey Grammer, politics and work apparently don't mix well.

The "Frasier" star opened up about his political views, namely his support for former President Donald Trump, during a Monday interview on BBC Radio 4's "Today" show.

After referencing actress-comedienne and Trump supporter Roseanne Barr earlier in the interview, Grammer was asked by host Justin Webb if he was still a supporter of the former president.

"I am," Grammer said.
"And I'll let that be the end of it."

But according to Webb, that wasn't the end of it.

The BBC host revealed after the interview aired that Grammer had no issue discussing his support of Trump, but PR representatives from Paramount+ (which streams the "Frasier" revival) allegedly cut the interview short, according to a clip of Webb's post-interview comments shared by Mediaite.

"I have to say, actually, Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it," Webb said. "The Paramount+ PR people, less happy that he talked about it at some length so we… They decided that we'd had plenty of time for our interview. But I should stress that he was absolutely perfectly happy to talk about why he supports Donald Trump and still does in the coming election."

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Grammer and Paramount+ for comment.

Grammer revived his iconic Dr. Frasier Crane character when the "Frasier" sitcom returned for a reboot in October. Dr. Crane first appeared as the preppy, obnoxious boyfriend to Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) in the Season 3 "Cheers" premiere in September 1984, turning a bit part into an indelible nine-season role.

"We knew from the first five lines that this guy was amazing because he could compete with the stellar 'Cheers' cast," James Burrows, "Frasier" director and "Cheers" co-creator, told USA TODAY in October. "Frasier was only written for a short character arc. But after the first show, we said, 'My God, we've got to keep this guy on.' We would have been blind not to see it."

His poor handlers… The studio puts all sorts of money and effort into promoting the series, and then he goes and F's it up!!

I don't know. This makes the studio/company/whatever you call them look worse. They certainly have that right as does Grammer but it's not a good look.

Yes, it does make the studio look worse. They seem to have knowingly given a MAGAT a TV show.

If Trump is going to purge government and media jobs of non Trump supporting Americans, as he has said he will do, then why would us non Trump supporting Americans want to support MAGAT tv?

Why does the studio hire him but then try to muzzle him? Muzzling him makes them look bad. I could care less what his political views are. I could care less what any actors political views are. That's the problem, in my eyes.

They probably didn't consider his Trumpism when they thought to relaunch the show.
I can forgive that.
I praise the studio for shutting him down.

Freedom of speech when the speech is designed to create an authoritarian dictatorship should be illegal.

As if that is what this is about. Hollywood types have free reign to rant about Trump; there are entire shows based on the idea.

You want people to be able to express their opinions...unless they goes against yours...in which case it's a threat to democracy.

maybe you guys live in a different world, but it seems like TV land gives Trump more coverage than any other person. I'm tired of seeing him on the tube. But it probably means ratings. Shutting down an actor because he answers a question as to who he votes for looks like a media company being petty, but also hypocritcial. Would be perfect for this board.

Like wiaf, I'm sick of Trump being on TV all the time. Friend was in continental Europe and put on BBC and it was Trump, Trump, Trump. Nobody has ever received more time for speech than Trump. The media loves Trump.

Trump has said he would purge non supporters from government and media. Why are you whining about individuals like me not being receptive to companies giving us entertainment from people who support that? Purge me? No. Purge you.

Kelsey Grammar supports Trump. He could be the funniest guy in the history of the world. I'm not watching him. Any media company would be dumb to not understand that about the viewing public.

If all press is good press, then yes, the media loves Trump. By any other measure, Trump is in the media pantheon of evil, right up there with Hitler and Putin. This is precisely why he's on tv all the time. Isn't it obvious?

Well don't stop there. Avoid watching sports, because there are plenty of athletes (not to mention owners and management) who voted for Trump. In fact, in talking with Wilcox, he was surprised how politically conservative Cal players tend to be - so stop watching Cal sports. Also, don't watch anything with Jon Voigt, Dennis Quad (or his bothers for that matter), James Wood, Tim Allen, supposedly Clint Eastwood (he supposedly said he liked Trump's policies), Jerry Brukheimer (so there are ton of movies off your plate), Isaiah Washington (tell you wife to stop watching Grey's Anatomy), John Ratzenberger (so no Toy Story, Cars, etc. for your grandkids), David Lynch (he also voted for Sanders, and12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders,in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for Trump in the general election), and on and on.

It would also make sense when controlling for some demographics that there are plenty of Trump supporters in the entertainment industry. According to exit polls, most men, white Americans, Americans who had not completed college and baby boomers backed Trump, as did nearly half of those making more than $100,000 a year. Certainly there are countless people, including stars, in the entertainment industry who fall into those groups. Simply don't watch anything on TV or go to movies. You will be a better person for it.

What you desire is to provide a backlash to any of the 70 million who voted for Trump is to make this country divisive and endorse censorship that reeks of McCarthyism. It is a form of polarization that fundamentally altered political discourse, public civility and even the way politicians govern that was brought by Trump himself and that you are now to willing engage in and extoll.

The vast majority of what you suggest, I have already done. I have cut off a few friendships (I was never the type to be friends with Trump types even before 2016) and stopped listening to some bands as well. I don't have time in my life for people who are hateful to my family - even indirectly.

For a variety of reasons, my viewing of sports, including college sports, and Cal sports are way, way down from what it used to be. But also, sports are kind of dumb when you think about it. Not sports themselves but the fanaticism it generates. Getting hysterical over grown men running around with a ball. Exalting kids because they are better at ballgames. And I used to be one of those people. Sports are fun, but, dumb too. Been watching the David Beckham documentary (you can fill me in on who I should avoid from that show). The whole thing with him and England was so dumb. Makes me embarrassed for all sports fans.

I've been to the movie theatre twice this year. Once at the request of my son and once to watch Barbie. So I'm good. I have some exceptions and I'm not puritanical about it. Obviously, rich people control a lot in this country and a lot of rich people like Trump. You can't win them all. And I certainly don't hold my family to my standards. But I have no use for a Kelsey Grammar supporting Trump. Nothing McCarthyesque (Trumpesque) about it. I'm not a Senator and if I were a Senator I wouldn't support any government action along the lines of what I am saying. I'm not like Trump.

Most did.
But there were surely still MANY who did not. There were many who saw the horrors for what they were. These included German Jews who fled while they could still get out,German Jews who stayed and died, German Christians who helped hide Jews, and Germans who opposed it all yet fought and died, or survived, because they were instructed to at gun point as the insane nationalistic movement took hold.

Count me among the supposed "American privileged class" who strongly opposes what's happening here!!

It's wrong of you, bear2034, to generalize with "the Germans went along with"… that's just like how so many conservative Christians I have known wanted to claim that all Muslims (incorrect) wanted to kill Christians after 9/11 because it's in their Koran (also a false interpretation)… that's like like how the Iranian state claims that all Americans are white devils.

I'm not going down in this Trumpist national horror show without speaking my strong strong objections.

You know, I heard some statistic that it was only about 1 in 20 southerners who owned slaves. But they nonetheless "went along" with the few who were directly benefiting from slavery. Now, I realize it's more complicated than that, but it's simply no good for people to just passively allow this insanity to happen.

I never could have imagined it. But here it is, right on our doorstep. History repeating itself.
The danger is WORSE than 2020, because now he knows he's got to go all the way! And he will.

At any rate, we don't need people out there trying to provide reasoning for Trump. We need people out there providing reasoning against Trump.

Often times, that comes directly from trump's own mouth, ironically enough.

Exactly. But entertainment companies know there are a lot of people who feel that way. So they don't want their investments getting into it. I'm not sure why this is so hard to understand for so many of you.

It's not like we are acting like Trump who says he is going to have his government play favorites with media. If you all had any integrity behind your words here you would be spending your energy on that.

I find it ironic that people here are so terrified of Trumpian fascism. There's another party that has become all about winning at all costs, silencing its enemies and punishing them with the power of the state abetted by the media.

Once the shackles of law and respect for opposing viewpoints have been shattered, power-hungry individuals most willing to disregard previous convention will gain an advantage and authoritarianism will ultimately prevail. That authoritarianism may look blue on the outside, or perhaps the pendulum will swing the other way and it will be red. Either way, I don't think anyone here will be pleased with the outcome.

Okay, fair enough. You still have some way to go. You essentially have to cut off all content. But re: Cal sports and sports are stupid, you do realize you are posting on a Cal sports site, yes?

I find it ironic that people here are so terrified of Trumpian fascism. There's another party that has become all about winning at all costs, silencing its enemies and punishing them with the power of the state abetted by the media.

Projection is just a confession of a sin. They need an outlet but don't know where else to turn.

I will vote for Biden. That doesn't mean I go al mental on people that vote for Trump. Tom, I have said this before, you have lost perspective. Get a life.

I hope you do realize that is soothing to me every time I read it!
Let's just check in on this after he's:
Jailed
Dead
Fled to Saudi Arabia
Or his tanks are rolling down constitution and independence avenues.

Then we'll see if I have gotten or needed a new life.

…you know, part of the horror that makes it so personal are the seniors in my family who are identified as republicans and/or dit around watching Fox all the time getting brainwashed. These include people who were 60's liberals and yet now they've become brainwashed from who they were.

It's shocking, appalling. They never would have stood for this before.
The whole thing is just sickening.
And, yes, I'm panicked about it.

Yes, I'm frustrated that the democrats have so fallen behind Biden when clearly he's past his sell by date. But switching to this current insane Republican Party because of that is equally insane. Yet, this is where we're at.
If you feel this strongly about this topic, there has to be more impactful actions you could take, no?

Let me know if you have changed one single vote with the postings here.

Otherwise, hard to take that you believe as passionately as you claim since true belief leads to actions. Will you relocate for awhile at a purple state, volunteer for Biden's campaign, knock on doors, volunteer to drive people to the polls, etc? If it's existential threat, you would do at least that, no?

So, do you really believe this or could this be a more of a need to create a villain so that we can be the heroes in our own stories?
