…..may backfire on tRump worse than showing up for the debate backfired on Biden?

Now the reasons for keeping tRump out of the Oval seem to have been turbocharged.*

*Granted, Thomas and Alito would take all judicial action necessary to reverse the results of any election won by Biden or any other Democrat, and they might get the majority to go along.

*I guess tRump's plans to exact revenge on Biden just went up in smoke with that decision…. although perhaps this SCOTUS would carve out a "Biden Exception" to it's immunity decision.

Assuming we still have a Supreme Court if Trump gets reelected all of his actions are core functions and/or official acts, but none of Bidens are. That's why they left those issues open.

Yes. From a political perspective anything that takes attention away from Biden's dementia and lack of fitness for office is a win for Biden and bad thing for Trump.

Good point. I hope to God the American people wake up and get out and vote.

If this happens then Biden should conduct a few official "core constitutional" acts.

Biden's F graded debate last Thursday, where Trump cleaned his clock, is still the top news story, along with the recent Supreme Court decisions. Discussing Trump's unfitness for office right now is actually Trump whataboutism, unless you are having your regularly scheduled circle jerk with your buddies, in which case it is just another Monday.

Trump has never cleaned anybody's clock. That would require him to adhere to the truth to some degree.

The BS and derangement that spewed from trump's mouth during the debate highlighted how unfit he is for office.

For an assortment of reasons Trump isn't going anywhere. Convicting and sentencing him before the election was the only shot. And to the extent people think he is unfit for office it is a judgement call inherently rooted in one's political alignment.

Biden's situation is inherently different. He is obviously and undeniably losing the battle with father time. He is mentally and physically incapable. It is tragic. But the D party can still do something about this. Get him out and nominate someone else that can beat Trump.

This is precisely the type of lazy, biased or unintelligent summarizing of the decision I warned against following.

The quote is not part of the opinion, just the head notes (or whatever the summary is called). And the actual opinion makes clear that the conclusion - what is referred to in the quote - is specifically referring to the allegations against Trump, and is not some form of Presidential carte blanche.

What in the world are you on? It's absolutely in the majority's decision (page 21). So your argument is only Trump gets to do this? Only he has this power? And you think that makes you sound more moderate and makes the "alarmists" look crazy? That's not how case law worked before this political court took reign. No wonder you never passed the bar. In a normal, sane world this would be precedent. It would apply to all future Presidents. The fact that we must even contemplate special powers only for Trump is what makes this so alarming. It's crazy that people like you hate this country so much that you'd rather have Trump than Democracy.

I think that ship has sailed. Four years ago, everybody became aware and yet current polls tell us it doesn't matter.

Which do you think is more impactful, a violent insurrection at the capital or a supreme court decision? Most people probably don't really even get what these recent court decisions are. Most people are stupid. If they're not moved by idiots beating the hell out of cops, they're not going to be moved by a supreme court decision which has no visuals.

We might as well begin to prepare ourselves for everything tgat is about to come.
I think the entire world order could eventually fall apart.

"Based on the SCOTUS immunity decision, Biden should immediately: "Arrest the six conservative Supreme Court justices, send them to Guantanamo, and appoint six new ones.

Abolish the Senate and level the building, and unilaterally add 20 seats to the court.

Order drone strikes on student loan offices to destroy records of all current debts.

Pledge to give anyone who votes for Biden $1 million since the court also said bribes are fine.

Seize all of Leonard Leo's assets to build abortion spas where patients get a free full-body massage, a mani-pedi, and an all-day breakfast buffet.

Convert all crisis pregnancy centers into free daycares with unionized staff.

Nationalize U.S. car companies and use the profits to give us the beautiful Amtrak expansion map even sooner.

Force New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) to enact congestion pricing under threat of imprisonment.

Commandeer all of Trump and Jared Kushner's properties and turn them into free housing.

Great starting list!
This was mine to my infamous TX cousin after he cheered the SCOTUS:

Yeah.
Now Biden can order Seal Team 6 to assassinate:
Donald Trump
Roger Stone
Steve Bannon
Sean Hannity
Tucker Carlson
Senator McConnell
Representative Jordan
Justice Alito
Etc
Etc
Etc
All as an official act to protect the state.

Great call, David. You sure know your politics!!

Control F failed me. But thanks for your generous and kind treatment of a simple mistake.

The tweet quoted that line then used it to support the proposition that a president can "order the Justice Department to do ANYTHING and he's absolutely immune"

I infer you are smart enough to know how precedent works and why that conclusion in the tweet is beyond preposterous.
