Good read. tRump supporters love this kind of stuff. It is exactly why they support him. They want him to have dictatorial power and rule for life.

MAGAts don't believe in democracy. They are fascists.

The news won't be talking about this obviously disqualifying episode in a few days. The high ratings Donold show must go on.

"The tweet criticizing Pence coincided with one of the most perilous moments of the riot: the precise minute Pence was being evacuated from his Senate office to a loading dock below the Capitol. Rioters had come within 40 feet of where he was sheltering just before this moment.

When Trump was told by an aide of Pence's evacuation, prosecutors say Trump responded: "So what?"

Too bad Pence didn't get abducted or lynched.
Then we would have really found out how great (or pathetic) this Country has become.

Counting on Giuliani didn't turn out so well. Smith's brief includes yet another instance of Giuliani's prolific record of butt-dialing and clumsy cell phone use. Prosecutors say he attempted to send a proposed resolution to Michigan lawmakers declaring the election to be in dispute but sent it to the wrong number.

Good thing these guys are complete idiots. America, if you elect these scum, you will deserve what will come.

Tina Peters, Colorado MAGAt election official, got sentenced to 9 years in prison for helping people illegally access voting data and then being defiant about it after convicted by a jury of her peers.

Justice is slowly on the march.

I challenge any of the Trump haters in this thread to substantively address the assertions in Goldsmith's article of Smith and the DOJ's bad faith. He has nailed it.

"These subversions of executive branch standards may seem relatively unimportant and perhaps justified to those who believe that Mr. Trump's violations were and will be much worse, that his crimes and unfitness for office are obvious and that his unique horribleness justifies every conceivable aggressive step to keep him from becoming president. This sort of thinking reflects a tragic eight-year pattern of breaking rules and standards or countenancing breaking them in response to Mr. Trump's disreputable behavior."

The irony, of course, is that the Dems/liberals have done the authoritarian and norm breaking things they accuse Trump of.

If Trump wins and he elects to engage in the same unfortunate tactics used against him, the Dems will l only have themselves to blame and will have no grounds to complain.

Meh, this article is better applied to James Comey's actions in 2016

And you morons know well: the lawfare is only gonna get bigger and more contrived when the Trump DOJ gets rolling.

I suspect the vetting process for AG will be along the lines of "How would you prosecute this list of President Trump's enemies within?"

Dismissed without prejudice (of refiling). tRump will have to pardon himself of this crime before he leaves office.

I'm sure Smith's report will be leaked to the media, which the Eddie Snowden and Julian Assange Fan Clubs should vigorously approve of.

What is the statute of limitations?

And beyond that, he won't have to pardon himself if Vance (or another republican) wins the next election. You seem to be glossing over that possibility (just like you did for Trump in 2016/2024).

And let's face it, with Trump no longer eligible to run for president, they Dems have a lot less incentive to pursue lawfare against him. But I can't discount that given that, like you, many have TDS.

I'm assuming that the statute of limitations is tolled during that period of time tRump is not subject to prosecution because he is a sitting POTUS. I have never contested the Lawfare argument…..but for Lawfare to work the target has to actually commit the felonies, like tRump did.

Prosecuting tRump's enemies will prove problematical in light of the fact unanimous guilty jury verdicts are based on facts and the law not on fantasy allegations created by MAGA and Fox News on air personalities solely for the purpose of whipping a bunch of emotional 10 year olds like you into a frenzy.

Trump knows that the only way to punish his enemies is by suspending the protections of the Sixth Amendment and having the trials conducted by tribunals appointed by him. Thus Lawfare won't work for your team unless tRump goes full IL Duce.

I'm not aware that the SOL is tolled automatically. 2 minutes of google reading seems to confirm that but I could be wrong.

You're an attorney I believe, so I doubt you really believe the bolded statement. If you do, you can start by explaining the OJ Simpson criminal verdict/acquittal. After that, we'll discuss the many instances where people were wrongfully convicted and then later exonerated. Notably Jack Smith has a pretty bad record in that regard.

In terms of actually committing crimes/felonies, we know the Biden family has done so (including Joe's retention of documents). An aggressive prosecutor could (improperly) find something, perhaps using novel theories of criminality. That is exactly what happened with Bragg in NY and the Georgia case.

A conniving prosecutor, with a willing partisan judge, can railroad anyone particularly when the jury pool is similarly partisan. That cuts both ways and no doubt Republicans could try the same thing. I hope they don't. But you're foolish to think they couldn't.
bearister

Jury nullification happens but it is rare. It happened in OJ's trial, however.

Biden's response to having classified documents not even in the same zip code of tRump's response.

Just so I can see how my theories play out, I hope tRump has Pam Bondi bring prosecutions against each and every one of his enemies, although I'm not convinced she is that bent.

This is peak bearister. Deflect by saying "But Trump."

It doesn't matter that what Trump did was in some respects worse (it was). What Biden did was a felony - something you claimed democrats don't commit. So by your logic, you should be fine with the DOJ filing charges against Biden. But for some reason you don't advocate for that.

NPR is reporting the case is dead because the statute of limitations will have expired (absent the liberal wet dream of Trump being removed from office early in his term).

Garland said he will release Smith's report subject to required redactions. Garland said he doesn't expect much new information, given that much of Smith's evidence against Trump has already been made public through court filings.

Special Counsel Robert Hur, who determined Biden should not be prosecuted for matters pertaining to his son Hunter, is dropping his prosecution of an FBI informant and sending his final report which also will be released and redacted. Hur's initial report to Garland had been attacked by Democrats for its unflattering portrayal of Biden's age and competence in responding to questioning (it also provides the soon to be former President with a possible "Reagan defense"). One wonders if the Dems didn't miss an opportunity to quietly ask Joe to not run for reelection and allow the party to have a legitimate primary.

Continue your back and forth children

Not a liberal here (just ask Yogi). I want tRump to give America the Full Monty. I don't want him leaving early. As the nuns used to tell us in grammar school, we "have it comin'."

His entire life, tRump has been guilty as charged. He got away with a ton of stuff that he never got charged for. Everyone knows it. tRump knows it, heck, even you know it. Half the voters don't care. Smith's final report will drop before the Inauguration.
