I knew Bosa was a MAGA guy and didn't really give a s*** because he generally didn't talk about his politics, which I thought was a smart strategy given the team that drafted him and the city they represent.

So I'm surprised he decided to pull this stunt now.

What a stunt! Bosa should be more professional like Steve Kerr and the Gold State Warriors. Despite their success, we still don't know what their politics are?
To be clear: the "stunt" was him jumping in and interrupting a TV interview to promote his politics. If he'd decided to speak thoughtfully about his beliefs and why he's voting this way or that (as Kerr does), it would be different. I wouldn't agree with him, but I would respect it more.

And again: ultimately I don't give a s*** what football players think about the election. I'm just surprised Bosa chose this moment to step into these waters after many years of not talking about politics.

The "stunt" seemed largely unobtrusive. If he leaves it at this, I'm glad he's being his authentic self. This is sort of the Bay Area equivalent of coming out of the closet. I wish some of the hundreds of Trump voters in my community (only 5-10%) would put Trump signs on their lawns, but they're too scared I guess. Maybe Bosa "coming out" will give them courage.

I wouldn't put political signs on my lawn in either direction for fear of wackos

When Bill Maher says, "I can hate Trump but I can't automatically hate the people that support him", he's talking about stuff like this. Some 80 million Americans are going to vote for Trump. Unless they are doing something besides that to earn my enmity, I'm not gonna hate 'em.

I still love my family that will vote for trump, including my dementia leaning mother.
I still like my Trump voting neighbors, who are nice people.

Being a fan of sports teams is about identifying with the players. I don't know Nick Bosa from Adam. I have never and will never talk to him. The only thing bonding me to pro athletes is little stupid stuff like where they are from, the uniform they wear, the color of their skin, etc.
Nick Bosa just provided me with a big Un-identifying thing that really matters to me.

Just like I'm willing to look beyond Red or Blue for political party affiliation and vote Issues, I'm able to look beyond team uniform in choosing who I root for.

You said "hate" in your quote. Good point. But sports fandom is about love and a united feeling of affiliation. And Bosa just wiped that out.
I want players I love, or at least don't disagree with on political issues or great import.

Good luck finding a baseball or football team with no Trump voters.

If Bosa does more Trump stuff, I'm gonna get tired of it really quickly. If it was just this one little thing -- and it appears like that's the case -- I was ready to move on as soon as it happened. I got no problems with Bosa. Zero. Great football player. I could give a **** who he's voting for. I think Trump voters are misguided... but they think I'm misguided. Let's all work things out and be good Americans.

The NFL will make a decision on whether he gets fined or not after next week.
Guess they need to see who becomes President first.

^ They should just remind him of the rule, warn him that next time he will be subject to the fine... and move on.

Live and let live.

I don't have any blood family members that support Dementia Donold except:
- a boring, religious cousin that I didn't really maintain a relationship with even before Dementia Donold
- distant cousins in Missouri I met at a family reunion in 2016. We became Facebook friends. They were posting fake stories about Hillary. I pointed out they were fake. They said they knew but thought they were funny. I kept pointing out they were fake. They muted me. I unfriended them. That relationship lasted 1 month.

^ Lame, IMO. They should've just reminded him of the rule and moved on. I don't know, unless they have demonstrated Draconian enforcement of this rule, on both sides, just everybody take a chill pill. If it gets to be a frequent thing, revisit.

The Niner Defense Sucks!

They've given up 36 points this season in THE LAST 2 MINUTES.

Though in fairness to Bosa, he was injured for this part of the game.

Tom, I once felt that way, but today's players are here only because they're getting paid and if another team offered more, they'd be gone in a heartbeat. I proudly admit that I wept when Willie Mays died, but really, that was the 10-year-old in me (the same one who still gets a little thrill walking up Galey to CMS). Today's players, college or pro, have no affiliation with us. Most didn't bust their butts taking tough courses in college. They didn't get part-time jobs to pay for it and they won't be sitting around when they're 65 YO hoping they have enough in their 401K to take care of retirement. I once read in Consumer Reports, "Don't fall in love with a car, it can never love you back". I think that applies here.

After a lifetime of being a loyal Raider fan….until they left for LV, you have no idea of the high I get from making any team Goff is on My Team (granted being a Ram fan was a hard sell for me).

I'M FINALLY BACKING A F@UCKING WINNER AGAIN after 35 years off!
My QB had 5 picks and a W 2 weeks ago (18th QB in NFL history to do so) and 412 yards, 4 TD and a QBR of 158 for the W yesterday.

Well the Lions sucked at first which I attributed to the jinx that comes with my sports fandom.

With the contract he has, the tRump tax cuts could tempt him.

This article says he's progressive.

Jared Goff (Detroit Lions): Goff has shown support for social justice initiatives, which could indicate a progressive outlook. Likely votes for Kamala.

I was a loyal Raider fan until they left for LA, about the same time I moved to Seattle. I was back in NorCal a couple of years when the Raiders returned, but I couldn't rekindle my enthusiasm. But I now, thanks to Goff, I also look for a Lions game on TV. Plus, I've had a soft spot for them ever since reading George Plimpton's Paper Lion as a kid. The book is still on the shelf.
