While I'm generally not a fan of calling Dementia Donold, Hitler, it is completely appropriate to call him a fascist - because he is. Not all fascists rise to the level of Hitler but Donald J. Trump is a fascist who is leading a fascist movement in America.

How Neil Young came to write Ohio in May 1970:

The speaker is Graham Nash in 1990Crosby Stills Nash & Young. he was interviewed for my television series on the 1960s. I loved what he said and how he said it. An incredible thinker.

"Ohio" is a protest song written by Neil's bandmember Neil Young in response to the Kent State shooting on May 4, 1970. The incident occurred when members of the Ohio National Guard fired on unarmed college students protesting the Vietnam War at Kent State University in Ohio, resulting in the deaths of four students and the injury of nine others.

Young was deeply affected by the tragedy and wrote "Ohio" as a reaction to the event. The lyrics express his anger and frustration at the government's handling of the war and its disregard for the lives of young people. The song became an anthem for the anti-war movement and remains a powerful reminder of the tragic events that occurred that day.

In terms of how he wrote it, Young has said that the song came to him quickly, and he wrote the lyrics in about 20 minutes. He then performed the song with his band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young just a few days later, and the song was quickly released as a single. The raw emotion and immediacy of the song resonated with many people and helped to galvanize the anti-war movement.

Where's it going to happen, and who is going to write the song?

Scene was covered well in Handmaid's Tale. They flashback to going to a street protest and the soldiers open fire on them. That is Dementia Donold's desire as per his own advisors.

I wasn't familiar with Handsmaids Tale, have only heard the phrase:

Book, and Hulu series. But here's the author. I'll have to check it out.

This is the fantasy world, the notion that we are headed to a Christian dystopian patriarchy as depicted in her brain-dead fantasy world, when in fact the West has largely de-Christianized and young women have higher purchasing power and dominate professions like law and medicine, or college enrollment in general. Women have been sold the notion that motherhood is a burden and their self-worth should be defined by their profession, but those that have followed that path are much more likely to end up being miserable.

It will happen a few times if Trump is elected. I predict Berkeley, UCLA, Michigan and Cornell

It's interesting that Kamala Harris has never called Trump . . . Hitler.

But his running mate once said Trump could become "America's Hitler"

"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical ******* like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler," Vance wrote.

"Trump is cultural heroin. He makes some feel better for a bit. But he cannot fix what ails them, and one day they'll realize it," Vance wrote in a July 2016 piece for The Atlantic.

Vance described himself as a "Never Trump guy" and called Trump an "idiot" in since-deleted tweets from that time. In an August 2016 interview with NPR, he even said he might vote for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president, if he thought Trump might actually win.

John Kelly

CNN
https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/22/politics/trump-fascist-john-kelly/index.html

John Kelly, the retired Marine general who was Donald Trump's White House chief of staff, entered the 2024 fray in stunning fashion in a series of interviews published Tuesday, saying the former president fits "into the general definition of fascist" and that he spoke of the loyalty of Hitler's Nazi generals.

In addition to the fascist comments, Kelly who was Trump's chief of staff from 2017 to 2019 told The New York Times that the former president "certainly prefers the dictator approach to government."

He also confirmed to The Atlantic that Trump had said he wished his military personnel showed him the same deference Adolf Hitler's Nazi generals showed the German dictator during World War II, and recounted the moment.

"'Do you mean Bismarck's generals?'" Kelly told The Atlantic he'd asked Trump. He added, "I mean, I knew he didn't know who Bismarck was, or about the Franco-Prussian War. I said, 'Do you mean the kaiser's generals? Surely you can't mean Hitler's generals?' And he said, 'Yeah, yeah, Hitler's generals.' I explained to him that Rommel had to commit suicide after taking part in a plot against Hitler."

Mark Esper

Politico
https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/10/23/2024-elections-live-coverage-updates-analysis/esper-backs-kelly-00185125

Mark Esper, who served as secretary of Defense under Donald Trump, backed former colleague John Kelly's recent remarks that he believes Trump meets the definition of a fascist.

Esper told CNN Wednesday that he has no reason to doubt Kelly's "honesty or integrity" in relaying Trump's previous comments. He encouraged the audience to look up the definition of fascism, as Kelly did, and ask whether Trump falls "into those categories."

"It's hard to say that he doesn't, when you kind of look at those terms. But, he certainly has those inclinations," Esper said. "And I think it's something we should be wary about."

Mark Milley

The Hill

Former Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair and retired Gen. Mark Milley has called former President Trump "a total fascist" and believes he is the most dangerous person to the U.S., according to excerpts from the forthcoming Bob Woodward book.

JD Vance

Reuters
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/jd-vance-once-compared-trump-hitler-now-they-are-running-mates-2024-07-15/

Eight years ago, in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, J.D. Vance was a bitter critic of Donald Trump.

Publicly, he called the Republican presidential candidate an "idiot" and said he was "reprehensible." Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.

He was harshly critical of Trump, both publicly and privately, in 2016 and during the opening stages of his 2017-2021 term.

"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical ******* like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler," he wrote privately to an associate on Facebook in 2016.

Ivana Trump

ABC News
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/donald-trumps-history-adolf-hitler-nazi-writings-analysis/story?id=105810745

Back in 1990 -- decades before he got into politics, Trump reportedly acknowledged owning a copy of "Mein Kampf." The admission came in an interview with Vanity Fair shortly after his divorce from his first wife, Ivana. Here's what the magazine reported:

"Last April, perhaps in a surge of Czech nationalism, Ivana Trump told her lawyer Michael Kennedy that from time to time her husband reads a book of Hitler's collected speeches, "My New Order," which he keeps in a cabinet by his bed. Kennedy now guards a copy of "My New Order" in a closet at his office, as if it were a grenade."

Vanity Fair reporter Marie Brenner asked Trump if his cousin had given up a copy of the book to him. She wrote this is how Trump responded:

"Actually, it was my friend Marty Davis from Paramount who gave me a copy of 'Mein Kampf,' and he's a Jew," Trump told Brenner.

Brenner then asked Marty Davis whether he gave Trump a copy of the book.

"I did give him a book about Hitler,' Davis told her. "But it was 'My New Order,' Hitler's speeches, not 'Mein Kampf.' I thought he would find it interesting. I am his friend, but I'm not Jewish."

Brenner then wrote that Trump told her: "If I had these speeches, and I am not saying that I do, I would never read them."

Weird thing to label a guy who brags about not starting any new wars. He also passed criminal justice reform and personally pardoned black inmates who were serving life sentences for drug crimes who Obama was unwilling to pardon.
