As a kid I memorized all the bits.

I'm not questioning whether the CIA was involved in the JFK assassination. It seems very possible. Yogi, you're the one that said Isreal (your spelling error) killed JFK in your burner account of the day. I don't see the evidence for that.

Aside from that, Rep. Anna Paulina Luna doesn't strike me as the sharpest knife in the drawer. Got any sources ...ummm... less prone to weird claims?

The problem with this topic is people see what they want to see and there's usually just enough something to "justify" people's speculation.

I have to admit, I'm partial to your new handle.

Taibbi's piece where he drops a Tom Hardy Mobland reference and calls both Republicans and Democrats "c@unts" is interesting…although most of the article is dedicated to defending his reputation.

Sorry to meander onto another topic, but way OT: Can you list your top-3 favorite Jack Nicholson movies in order? I have to follow up by asking about your top-3 Clint Eastwood movies.

Nicholson: Chinatown, The Shining for sure, then maybe A few Good Men for the epic lines.

Eastwood: Good Bad Ugly, Dirty Harry, Outlaw Josey Wales.

Both bearister and you were able to list your Nicholson and Eastwood movies without mentioning One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and Unforgiven.

It's hard to give you both credit in one post, so let me do it while I can: you've both given me a few movies I hadn't considered and now have to see again....

Edit: This is where it's going to get really interesting. Now I need both bearister and Cal88's favorite 3 Woody Allen movies. Other Bears are welcome to chime in of course.

Allen's legacy is deeply tainted by the fact that he's a pedophile who molested his infant kid and married his stepdaughter. Knowing this, it's hard to appreciate a movie like Manhattan where he lusts over a high school girl as a middle aged man.

Take the Money and Run (1969)

Virgil: After fifteen minutes I wanted to marry her, and after half an hour I completely gave up the idea of stealing her purse.

Bananas (1971)

Nancy: I want to go and work with pygmies in Africa... and I want to work with lepers in a leper colony. I don't think that you...
Fielding Mellish: I'm willing to... No, that's perfectly OK. I love leprosy! If that's what you're asking me... I'm perfectly willing to... I like leprosy, I like cholera. I like all the major skin diseases.

Nancy: You're immature, Fielding.
Fielding Mellish: [whining] How am I immature?
Nancy: Well, emotionally, sexually, and intellectually.
Fielding Mellish: Yeah, but what other ways?

Fielding Mellish: I move for a mistrial! Do you realize there's not a single homosexual on that jury?
Judge: Yes there is.
Fielding Mellish: Oh, really, which one? Is it the big guy at the end?

Play It Again, Sam (1972)

Nancy: My lawyer will call your lawyer.
Allan: I don't have a lawyer. Have him call my doctor.

Allan: That's quite a lovely Jackson Pollock, isn't it?
Museum Girl: Yes, it is.
Allan: What does it say to you?
Museum Girl: It restates the negativeness of the universe. The hideous lonely emptiness of existence. Nothingness. The predicament of Man forced to live in a barren, Godless eternity like a tiny flame flickering in an immense void with nothing but waste, horror and degradation, forming a useless bleak straitjacket in a black absurd cosmos.
Allan: What are you doing Saturday night?
Museum Girl: Committing suicide.
Allan: What about Friday night?

Love and Death (1975)

Boris: If, by some mistake, I'm not killed tomorrow, would you marry me?
Sonja: What do you think the odds are?

Sonja: Oh don't, Boris, please. Sex without love is an empty experience.
Boris: Yes, but as empty experiences go, it's one of the best.

Boris: I got a perfect build for clothes. I'm a twenty-eight dwarf.

Countess Alexandrovna: You are the greatest lover I've ever had.
Boris: Well, I practice a lot when I'm alone.

Yes, I hear you, but -- and it's admittedly a big "but" -- if none of this were true, could you list your top-3?

Good Lord! Now I have to rewatch a lot more movies! Thanks for reminding me of some old classics. I'll share my list sooner or later, but somewhere up there is "Husbands and Wives". And I also really loved "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," though I know it's not one of the best. "Crimes and Misdemeanors" is also up there.

With regard to his less silly works:

I thought Blue Jasmine and Match Point were good and that Midnight in Paris was a nice shout out to Rod Serling.

This is why I value both bearister and Cal88's perspectives: because you have different, but thought-provoking ideas. After I rewatch some movies, I'll give my definitive Nicholson, Eastwood and Woody Allen lists ....

BTW, I'm also a big Pacino fan, especially in Godfather, part 2. I don't like the unethical actions, but I love the precision in his speech: not too fast, not too slow, but exactly what needs to be communicated.
