And just to be clear, Israel didn't invade Syria and there are in fact terrorists in control of parts of Syria. Assad is a licensed eye surgeon who used to practice in London before he became president of Syria, I wouldn't worry about his housing prospects in Russia. He also has a big fortune stashed in Russian banks.
He was a dictator of sorts, much more clearly so than say Putin, with an internal security apparatus not unlike the Shah of Iran' Savak, however he had the support of a small majority of Syrians, including their middle class, but especially among minorities like the Christians and his own community, the Alawites, who live west of the coastal mountain range of Syria, where a lot of crusader castles are located:Krak Des Chevaliers, Syria.

Because one minister in a cabinet said something (if the even did which I tend to doubt since you are the source) does not make it a fact. Israel expanded the border buffer zone in Golan Heights and that's it. Not an invasion. If Israel wanted to invade and conquer any surrounding country, they could.
It is the US, Russia, Turkey, Iran, and other countries, not Israel, that are arming Syrian groups. If anything, many in Israel preferred Assad (the enemy they know) over the Sunni jihadists who may now obtain control and create another caliphate. Israel and Assad had reached an unspoken arrangement that resembled stability.
The fact that you think US policy (as you would characterize it) is Israel's policy is objectively false. If that was the case, the US would have attacked Iran years ago. Israel has viewed Iran as its primary enemy for two decades dating to the 2003 Iraqi war.
In terms of my quoted statement, I misspoke. I meant to say "Arab/Palestinian civilians". Assad has killed 400,000 plus civilians, many of them Palestinians. And unlike Israel, Assad actually displaced and "ethnic cleansed" areas.

One reason Assad waited to step down is that he was waiting for Trump to take office because it would be more favorable for him. He didn't get the luxury of time.
This is what Trump said about Syria:
"I know Vladimir well. This is his time to act. China can help. The World is waiting!"
Once he takes office he will also cave on Ukraine and sell it as a great peace deal.

You started by saying Trump put Russia's interests ahead of America's interest. That is patently absurd. You then pivoted to say Trump never says anything critical of Putin or Russia. That is moving the goal post.
Assad did not "wait" for anything to step down. He fled before being killed by his enemies. His hand was never forced like this before because Russia and Iran saved his ass. There is zero reason to believe he would have voluntarily step down after January 20. Dictators don't operate that way.
I do agree with your characterization of Ukraine. I suspect they are going to give up land - which I view as rewarding Russia, and which I disagree with - and at some version of their NATO aspirations. Russia will likely only give up their desires to fully reincorporate Ukraine. I am not a fan of Trump's foreign policy here.
