That's a good summary article.

Maybe he participated in stuff in war zone that troubled him.
Maybe if he didn't suffer from financial troubles he would not have sought solutions elsewhere.

How many people who commit these crimes against humanity have a million dollars in the bank?

TBD because we don't know a lot of things. However, Luigi and Travis acted alone whereas Jabbar had 4-5 accomplices. Lone wolves seems more probable to be dealing with mental health issues

A US born veteran with a 6 figure job recently divorced and denied access to his children who turned into a suicide bomber. I'd say he had some mental problems.

My guess is he is a lone wolf - maybe with some logistic help. This was a pretty penny ante operation- driving a truck into Bourbon street at 3 am

The reports at this point are that 5 other people were involved, 4 of whom planted IEDs. That goes beyond "some logistic help." But even if it didn't, lone wolf means lone. You cannot be kind of pregnant. Unless reported facts change this was a coordinated group effort - a conspiracy - which is the exact opposite of lone actor.

He served 5 years active duty. He was deployed to Afghanistan for 11 months. He was an HR/IT guy. In times of non-war those positions often don't even deploy, so I'd say it is highly highly unlikely he saw combat. He then served 5 years in the reserves. He became a suicide bomber 10 years after leaving the service. Anything is possible but the probability of PTSD seems low in this case.

He had a rented vehicle, a rental home that was exploded/set on fire (presumably to hide evidence), stolen weapons from NJ, one of the weapons had a silencer, he built or acquired multiple pipe bombs, partnered with people to have pipe bombs placed in locations around the area and he had more pipe bombs in a cooler in this vehicle. This is not a penny-ante operation in my book. If body count is the measure it is the 5th worst terrorist attack on US soil in the last @100 years.

I hadn't heard any of this.
Only tv I watched yesterday was football.

Sometimes they explode suspicious backpacks, though. I'm curious about these pipe bombs you mentioned. And they have video of people placing them?
How come they didn't explode?

With time, I'll know more.

Full disclosure: the reports related to the other people and the IEDs are scattered and incomplete. You can find bits and pieces here and there but you don't get much more - the whole 'ongoing investigation' thing. But there are definitely reports of 4-5 other people, the pipe bombs in the area, bomb making materials in his rented NOLA home, people heard explosions @6am, etc. There is some possibility this ends up being a nothing burger but my sense is the probability is fairly high we're going to see 4-5 people found / questioned / arrested and at that point we'll learn about the conspiracy.

Another interesting one is the Cybertruck in front of Trump tower in Las Vegas. My hunch is it is unrelated. However, we have a rented EV truck with what appears to be 5 gallon or larger containers of propane/gasoline and a bunch of mortar like fireworks. The initial reports lacked detail and I trended toward thinking it was some guy going camping or something but the pictures show a lot of fireworks and more propane/gas than you could use in a full season of camping. And according to Musk/Tesla (who admittedly are not unbiased), the truck did not malfunction. TBD.

Edit / update: There are now reports the Las Vegas cybertruck driver served at the same Army base as the NOLA terrorist. This does not mean they served at the same time or know each other but for now put it in the category of things that make you go "hmmm"

Edit / update #2: The FBI now says they do not believe there were accomplices, that he was a lone wolf.

From NYT

"Investigators on Thursday said they now believe the U.S. Army veteran who plowed a pickup into New Year's revelers acted alone, after previously saying they were looking into whether other people might have helped him plant explosives in coolers in the French Quarter.

Based on hundreds of interviews and reviews of the attacker's calls, social media accounts and electronic devices, "We're confident, at this point, that there are no accomplices," Christopher Raia of the F.B.I.'s counterterrorism division said in a news conference. "

So, what's this story from Vegas?

The guy was parked inside the vehicle and died when it caught fire because he's stupid and loaded fireworks and gas together??
And it just so happened in front of trump Vegas sign??

Basically yes.
We don't know how/why the truck exploded. Tesla/Musk have been quickly vocal in saying diagnostics indicate the truck was operating properly. That leaves intentional act and accident. Plus Trump tower. Plus same day as NOLA. Plus the oddity of having that much gas and that many mortar type fireworks. TBD.

Well, I don't know fiddle about this story, but gasoline fumes could easily ignite fireworks!

Have you ever been cleaning anything with oily rags and tossed them in a pile where the air is not moving?
They can spontaneously ignite.

This happened at my mother's house. A worker was polishing teak furniture outside. Lucky the outside closet fire was quickly put out. Lunch break.

I know. From what I saw of the picture there was one round a 3 gallon gas tank and maybe 5 of those rectangular shaped metal containers that hold propane and paint thinner. When I first heard propane I envisioned a little round canister for camping and thought accident. But that volume of flammables is suspicious. They'll investigate. Maybe it turns out to be nothing. TBD.

From my perspective, Trump's MAGA movement is fueled by the fear and division he markets. It's a cultural mindset.
People who lash out against others are the gross manifestation of it.

His body was burned so badly it was beyond recognition. Though, there was a gunshot wound to the head.

Video show he went through the trump property lobby circle area, drove off, then came back and in 30 seconds had (if I understand correctly) lit the stuff and then shot himself.

He hates trump even more than I do!!

I'm guessing he hopes the lithium batteries of the cyber truck would go, too. Nope.
Elon should advertise that as a safety feature!! I look forward to him profiting off the man's failed plan, and his death.

Nope, neither. I am merely making the obvious and universal point that it's not the victim's fault when someone commits an offense against them.
You're obviously completely ignorant about how foreign policy works. Like most Americans, they're clueless as to why the US is hated by so many in the world.
