Extension of existing tax cuts.

Ronald Reagan cut taxes: revenues to the Treasure increased substantially, but spending increased even more (Tip O'Neil welched on reducing the rate of growth).

Tax cuts spur investment and revenues.

Look at Britain: 40% tax rate; 20% VAT tax on all purchases; and energy prices through the roof. 12,000 millionaires - job creators - fled the UK last year.

President Trump has investment flowing into the country, Apple, Toyota, TSMC, etc.

EOB you are right about cutting spending! Iirc you oppose DOGE. Illogical other than msm anti musk brainwashing.

Spending cuts:

Yes, the Trump administration implemented a $1 spending limit on most government-issued credit cards as part of an executive order signed on February 26, 2025. This action, driven by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the influence of Elon Musk, aimed to enhance transparency and reduce federal spending waste. The policy, effective immediately at agencies like the General Services Administration (GSA), froze credit card use for 30 days, with exceptions for critical services such as disaster relief, national security, and other essential operations as determined by agency heads in consultation with DOGE.

The $1 limit has significantly disrupted federal operations. Reports indicate that it has stalled travel, delayed shipments of critical supplies, and hampered employees' ability to perform basic job functions across agencies like the National Park Service, NOAA, and the FDA. While the intent was to curb fraud and inefficiencyfollowing DOGE's findings of $40 billion in annual credit card spendingthe move has been criticized for creating chaos, with employees unable to purchase necessary equipment or pay for services like internet at national parks. Some agencies have limited exemptions, but the overarching restriction remains in place as of March 8, 2025, with ongoing debates about its practicality and legality, given existing safeguards against misuse.

"The right invented the term Trump derangement syndrome to dismiss analysis of Trump's autocratic tendencies, compulsive lying and generally detestable character as liberal hysteria. For conservatives who don't want to engage with substantive criticism of their leader, it functions as a thought-terminating cliche, a term often used by people who study cults to describe ideological formulations that short-circuit critical thinking. "Trump derangement syndrome" implies that if someone tells you something about Trump that you don't want to hear, that person must be crazy.

But the real derangement lies in either the refusal or the inability to see Trump clearly. A few months ago, if people had predicted that Trump would cut off intelligence sharing with Ukraine, destroy U.S.A.I.D., free all the Jan. 6 convicts, put his lackey Kash Patel in charge of the F.B.I. and turn us into a despised enemy of Canada, they'd have been accused of unhinged political hatred. As Nick Catoggio wrote in The Dispatch, Trump's second term is "shaping up to be what doomsayers thought his first term would be."

I'd argue that the doomsayers were also right about Trump's first term, which was full of sadism, incompetence and corruption and culminated in a coup attempt. But if it wasn't as catastrophic as it could have been, it was because establishment figures often restrained him. The periods of relative stability provided by the adults in the room lulled people into complacency about how much damage an unfettered Trump could do."

*Why would Bibi and Putin agree to anything other than to get everything they want from a self proclaimed isolationist that is never going to do anything to back his mouth up. Rocket Man isn't afraid of an isolationist with no allies.

Lack of border security, Asian Triads, and exploding fentanyl distribution - the drug that in a few years has killed more Americans than WWI, WWII, and Vietnam - combined.

New York Post: The message of Trump's tariffs is clear: Stop killing Americans with fentanyl

"No wonder the Mexican drug cartels love to "cut" heroin with Chinese fentanyl to fool end users and turn an even bigger, albeit far more deadly, buck.

"Yet, it's not just heroin that the drug cartels spike with fentanyl.

"It's also other illegal drugs like cocaine, methamphetamine (speed), and MDMA (Ecstasy).

"Alarmingly, China's government actually subsidizes the production of fentanyl's precursor chemicals through large government subsidies and other financial incentives to Chinese chemical manufacturers."

You're lying again.

Less than 1% of the fentanyl that comes into the United States comes from Canada.
Never mind that 20x that flows from the U.S. into Canada.

Fact check: Canada makes up just 0.2% of US border fentanyl seizures | CNN Politics

Federal statistics show US border authorities seized 21,889 pounds of fentanyl in the 2024 fiscal year. Of that amount, 43 pounds were seized at the Canadian border about 0.2% compared with 21,148 pounds at the Mexican border, about 96.6%.

16 pounds of the deadly drug fentanyl were seized coming in from Canada COMBINED in 2022 and 2023. 43 pounds in 2024. 10 pounds in just January of 2025. Do you see an upward trend?

You apparently can't recognize what a small amount 43 pounds of Fentanyl is. You could put it in the trunk of your car and still have room for 3 suitcases and your golf clubs.

Well, if only 1% of the fentanyl is coming in through Canada, then we're going to need 1.2 billion pine boxes. Maybe we should reconsider the tariffs on Canadian lumber.

Fentanyl is the easy (and stupid) excuse for the trade war, because there is no way to stop it from coming into the country when there is so much domestic demand for it, not even by grinding commerce to a complete halt.

Of course, Trump always needs a scapegoat, which is why he first blamed fentanyl on illegal migration. Now that he's supposedly fixed the undocumented immigration problem, he needs another scapegoat.

Sooner or later, people in the U.S. will realize that nothing Trump does will stop the problem so long as he does nothing about the domestic demand....

Edit: Which is all to say "Fentanyl" is the convenient excuse Trump uses to initiate a trade war he wants to pursue even if there were no Fentanyl.

Justin Trudeau says the real reason is that Trump wants to destroy Canada's economy. I think it's ultimately because he just loves drama and the spotlight for whatever reason (and he probably listened to at least one advisor who assured him Tariffs were a great idea -- Peter Navarro?), and that he thinks it demonstrates he's in control.

Keep in mind Trump is a simple, small man, and not a 4-D chess player. He's a teenager playing a video game with the country's future.

The Bully In His Pulpit - by Andrew Sullivan

https://andrewsullivan.substack.com/p/the-bully-in-his-pulpit-0e5

"Here it is: We have a sociopathic president in total command of a cult-like party; a Congress that, as long as the GOP controls it, is a rubber-stamp version of the Russian Duma under Putin; a court balanced precariously between a modest defense of the unitary executive and an Alito wing bent on empowering an American Caesar; and a Justice Department openly planning persecution of the president's political opponents.

Trump's ability to invent and sustain a false narrative, however crazy and however incoherent, is preternatural. So are his profound skills in psychological abuse deployed to make it stick: gaslighting, intimidating, manipulating, and menacing you so that, in the end, you have no idea what the truth is or could be, and submit to the man if only to get out of his way.

When you heard him say he was better than George Washington, did you giggle? Did you just ignore it? Did you roll your eyes? Did you feel a tinge of nausea? Did you actually believe it? Or have you stopped caring altogether?"
