Never mind that 30% of the crude oil that we use in the U.S. every day comes from Canada.
You don't think they aren't going to retaliate?

Get a clue.

First eggs, now crude!
If you had to choose one, what would it be?

HALF of our fresh produce in the U.S. comes from Mexico, especially during the winter months.

MAGA!!!

How much of our fentanyl comes from China via Mexico and Canada?

The question is how does all this expand to be a global tariff war, plummeting All economies into a global recession?

The MAGA MORONS are so dumb that they actually think these Tariffs will force manufacturing back to the U.S.

That's nearly impossible if you don't already have plant and equipment facilities already here.

The auto part supply chain is highly intertwined and complicated in North America.
Parts will cross borders multiple times, made out of natural resources that will also be subjected to tariffs.
It's a multiplier effect.

With vehicle prices going up by thousands of dollars, that means less sales, which means less parts ordered, which means less revenue for parts companies and suppliers to the big auto manufacturers, which means less cash flow, which means LAYOFFS.

Higher inflation coming.
Higher interest rates.
Stronger USD.

And Jerome Powell and the FED will not be lowering rates anytime soon.
In fact, they just might have to RAISE RATES later this year.

The MAGA MORONS haven't figured this out yet.
They're too dumb.

It's obvious why Trump has changed his tune about these anti-American tariffs.

Yeah, time to get real defensive.
Cutting $1B in disbursements is going to rank US GDP.

The tariffs are going to cause inflation, and shortages.

The opposite is true. The Democrats won't acknowledge the immigration and drug trafficking problem so they will only talk about the markets.

In 2018, the tariffs were spread out over 4 tranches and they were done AFTER the tax cuts.

This time around, they are being done BEFORE any tax cuts and are coming all at once.
$1.3 Trillion so far.

I gotta imagine that Jerome Powell is pouring a bourbon on the rocks and saying, "*** are you doing???"

I think Trump is too aggressive on his tariff policy. Some tariffs, applied strategically, could have been good, but everything everywhere could lead to negative results.

I guess the Orange Crapstain didnt learn anything at Wharton. You ONLY use tariffs if there is dumping.

Duh.

Trump is too stupid to understand how intertwined the North American supply chain is, especially when it comes to the auto industry.

The U.S. purchase of a car on average just went up $3,000.

His Maggot followers are WINNING BIGLY!

That's what the citizens of Goslar said.

"We are a simple town, here in the Hartz Mountains. We don't want ALL the Jews to be sent away, only some of the newer ones.
My, it's such a shame, but what can we do now?"

Schumer must have some 20 year old writing his stuff these days. Beer and avocados? Weak. ChatGPT is not always accurate, but here's what it says.
Quote:

The largest products imported by the U.S. from Mexico by value include:

1. **Vehicles and Auto Parts** Passenger vehicles ($130 billion) and auto parts make up the largest share of imports.

2. **Electrical Machinery** This includes electrical circuit parts, ignition equipment, telecommunication receivers, and integrated circuits, totaling around $85 billion.

3. **Industrial Machinery and Equipment** Machinery such as engines, temperature-change machines, and lifting equipment contribute significantly, with over $80 billion in imports.

4. **Mineral Fuels and Oils** Petroleum-based products and related fuels are valued at approximately $25 billion.

5. **Medical and Optical Instruments** Includes surgical, optical, and precision instruments, worth about $22 billion.

6. **Agricultural Products** This includes fresh beef, live cattle, fresh citrus fruits, cucumbers, and grapes, collectively exceeding $5 billion.

These categories represent a significant portion of U.S. imports from Mexico, making it the top trading partner of the U.S.

Schumer's use of beer and avocados tells us that he knows just how stupid the average voter is. And that's a shame.

When the Democrats tried to persuade Americans with a well prepared audio/video presentation of Trump's responsibility for Jan 6, it didn't work.

Mankind is doomed.

Why is the market only down 1%? Given your gloom and doom spamming and patting yourself on the back, I expected -10% or so.

Because there are those that believe that these tariffs won't last long or a pause.
Just like the market never got hit hard last week in anticipation of possible tariffs.

I think that's a mistake.
I know that people think that Trump cares about the stock market, but back in 2018 people should remember that he did not react until there was a 5% decline. Tolerances for declines could be higher now, and markets are at highs.

Moreover, I don't think that the tariffs will succeed in forcing other countries into accepting meaningful changes in policy. They know that Trump is a bully.

As Larry Summers said over the weekend, "Think about what giving in to a bully does. It invites more bullying."

Tom, if you have $5.00 you can read all about Ray Dalio's "gloom and doom" in this week's Barrons.
And of course, this featured interview was conducted before the tariffs were announced.
