I am sorry to be blunt but this cognitive dissonance makes no sense to me. The university faces multiple existential threats. I do not understand how you can say you care about the Bears and then watch
1) Attacks on federal science funding that account for 50% of the new research the university is doing
2) Attacks on Foreign students that make Cal what it is.
3) Attacks on freedom of speech, a cornerstone of what makes this university great and foundational to its modern history.
And honestly the "protests" that occured 2 years ago were pretty weak sauce. No one was beaten up. The level of "discomfort" was frankly fairly low. They were set up on the side of Sproul. UCSD? Yes, I thought allowing the encampment on library walk was fairly bad. But Cal has a huge amount of experience with this.
Your politics for the most part are you own business. But thinking that there will be a Bears team to root for if the administration gets all it wants is just sunshine pumping to the extreme.
