I've voted to pay more taxes ever since I started making real money. At this point I dont care. If dumb, poor, uneducated Americans want to vote to make me more rich and keep themselves poor, well then that's their choice.
You can give money to the federal government, primarily through donations to reduce the public debt or, in some cases, to support specific government programs. The Bureau of the Fiscal Service, a part of the U.S. Treasury Department, accepts voluntary financial contributions and these can be made electronically or by mail. Shall I send you a link? The problem is you never put your money where your mouth is.
Hey Mr. Vote Blue - can I send the link to you? Maybe you can pass it on to those Dems who don't wan't the tax benefits?
I'm sorry you pretend to not understand how liberalism works to all pitch in together and all benefit together but somehow I dont think you want to run a candidate to oppose social security and Medicare so something tells me you are being dishonest in your response.
Being dishonest is someone saying that they deferred income because somehow taxes will change after the midterm elections (clearly someone who does not get that the President will veto any tax increase).
Or someone responding to a OP that Democrats are willing to pay higher taxes, by saying they will only pay more taxes when the people in power pass policies they like.
Per Statistica, over 40% of the households in the US pay no federal income tax, and very few of those households are the super wealthy. About 30% of those filling tax returns don't pay income tax, again almost all those filers are low income taxpayers. Government projections estimate a decline in the percentage of non-payers in the coming years if the Big Beautiful Ball had not passed where certain tax provisions would have otherwise expired. How exactly is all those people not paying any income tax paying their a fair share?
Wait they pay payroll taxes like for social security or Medicare, and then benefit from those programs when they reach a certain age, just like everyone else. But that seem unfair to you, we need to redistribute income more whenever we see it. Let's screw the high wage earners even more so we can proved further disincentivize for individuals and businesses from working, saving, and investing.
I'm assuming that you want the "very rich" to pay higher taxes on their income to pay their fair share. But we keep coming back to the problem that the very wealthy often manage the affairs so they have no taxable income - so guess what, they again pay no income taxes. You are left with a tax on wealth which is unconstitutional (it certainly will be under the current SCOTUS) and will never become law in any event because the elites (and their donors) in both parties will never accept a wealth tax. How exactly is that a fair share for me who pays a much higher effective tax rate? Would I object to a wealth tax on the super rich we lived in your seriously fanatasy world and the tax was legal and actually passed? Sure, we all become liberals when it comes to supporting taxing other people.
In the real world, public opinion surveys consistently show a significant portion of the population, across income levels, expressing resistance to higher taxes. The Democrats face an uphill battle already have in taking back the Senate in 2026, you want to lead with a big tax increase?
Be interesting to sew what portions of your response actually deal with the issue raised here.
