I think a lot of Dems would have preferred that Biden had stuck to one term. Admittedly, some of that might be 20/20 hindsight. There were two factors at play:

- it's pretty tough to tell a sitting President that his time is over and Jill and his handlers didn't do him or the country any favors

- his general strength and mental acuity were dropping rapidly during the second half of his term... somehow, he pulled off a pretty decent State of the Union speech in 2024 which reassured people (falsely). I read the Tapper book: Biden in June of 2024 was significantly down from Biden in June of 2023

And for that, he'll go down as a loser.

Yes, but it's sort of too bad: three good years, one lousy year (Who else can say they had 3 good years as POTUS?)

In fact, the Afghan Govt wasn't even in the room when Mike Pompeo "negotiated" it.

The U.S. should have gained more concessions from the Taliban.
It was "wishful thinking" to believe that the Taliban might be interested in lasting peace

There were about 650 troops in Afghanistan in early August 2021, tasked with protecting the Hamid Karzai International Airport and the US Embassy in Kabul.

NATO's Resolute Support Mission concluded on July 12th, 2021.

+ kept the left wing of the party placated, without giving away too much to them whatsoever

+ got some good legislation passed with bi-partisan support

+ did get us out of Afghanistan

+ acted presidential, not like some horse's azz... got us through the pandemic w/o Trump's daily bs pressers

+ pursued moderate, sensible foreign policies, strengthening our relations with our allies

+ respected our democratic institutions

+ mostly worked to protect the environment


I understand that many won't agree with me, but I thought he was a good President, except for trying for a second term.
