The follow-up discourse is a tangent and a different matter. Immoral conduct by some is not the same as applying immoral conduct to all as the original post did. It would be like if somebody said, in the 20th century all Catholics desired to rape underage boys and girls. That statement would obviously be untrue and bigoted even though there was a problem with Catholic statutory rape in the 20th century that was somewhat institutionally protected.
I think the main problem with that ML tweet post is that the guy, who served in Afghanistan, is drawing conclusions and making a very wide sweep by characterizing what he saw in Afghanistan during a time of war as an Islamic practice. It's as if someone who served in Vietnam and was stationed in Saigon concluded that it was normal for Asian women to work as prostitutes.
