You are missing the fact that Republicans speak out of both sides of their mouths and they think it's funny that anyone thinks they give a rat's @$$ when you catch then lying, being inconsistent or hypocritical.

As long as their supporters give them a free pass on that, why should they care.

The sole purpose of a political party is to gain power. There are no other motives at stake here. So, yes

California voters previously approved voter reforms that were born from widespread disgust over a 2001 "incumbent-protection" gerrymander that shielded politicians from competition. Voters approved it overwhelmingly to remove self-serving map-drawing from legislators.

Proposition 50 bypassed these reforms, reverting control back to politicians, the very issue voters sought to eliminate in 2008/2010.

Have you considered the possibility that maybe both are bad? Or that maybe another state doing something that is bad for democracy doesn't mean your state should do it too?

Think of it this way. Since Cal dining doesn't provide potato salad and green salad to its fans at an ostensible fan tailgate, does that mean that Texas should stop providing potato and green salad as well? Maybe Texas should treat its fans better than California treats theirs.

Simple explanation for GOP and Yogi hypocrisy:

IOIYAR (or IOIYAND, in Yogi's extremely nuanced and not at all reactionary opinion).
Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives...
I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative.

Can we stop "ever-expanding initialisms"? Reminds me too much of ROTFLMAO, DEIB and LGBTQIS+...
