On the internet video of protesters were shown. Headline referenced a "bloody battle". Looked like a regular old protest outside Zellerbach to me. Anyone go? News reports sensationalize minor event? Never a good look for recruiting.

The same people who were celebrating Charlie Kirk's assassination were protesting "mostly peacefully".

Seems like a non event with a half empty Zellerbach Hall all outsiders and a lot of non violent student protesters outside. I did hear a guy on the news say furry elements were there, so clearly things are escalating, lol.

Honestly, I dont know why UC allows these unwanted outsiders on campus.

I saw a pic of zellerbach full. I don't know the percentage of students vs local residents vs outsiders inside the venue. It is very interesting that you consider the protestors as all nonviolent students. That's also not what I saw from the videos and photos.

They were on campus because there is a Turning Point Chapter on campus and they were invited.

The scuffles developed between pro and anti Kirk people outside Zellerbach- a guy selling Kirk Tshirts and anti Kirk's. Both were detained.

The event sold out, many attendees came from off campus. Dozens of protestors not clear whether on or off campus people- likely a mix since many were masked

All in all pretty minor stuff. Lots of cops in attendance in riot gear because Kirk was killed on a campus. Everyone was searched who entered.

( I wasn't there so this is hearsay from a local report)

The whole thing was no big deal except for paying all the cops but I believe UC made a deal that the organizers pay for any extra security, so Turning Point

A few hundred people yelling at each other for Twitter takes: meanwhile right next door a few thousand are watching the Bears win at Bball

Diablo will be happy to know that Turning Point didn't provide security so nobody died

Cal Bear Emilie Raguso is an A+ journalist. I am no fan of Turning Point but some of the protestors crossed the line and were major a-holes.

Half empty?? Are you kidding? Zellerbach was packed with 2,200 people. The event was sold out.

According to the LA Times about 900 attended which would mean Zellerbach was half empty

Huh?

About 900 people attended the Turning Point event, Mogulof said, and four people were arrested. The Berkeley Police Department arrested two people who fought with each other off campus, he said, and an additional two arrests were made on campus by university police.

A few hundred marginal people yelling fascists or communist at each other is kind of like this board- of no consequence in a larger world.

The LA Times is just wrong. I've seen video of the inside of the auditorium, and it was packed.

Yes, I have also seen video of the upper deck, and it was far from empty. Why are you so insistent on trying to downplay the attendance?

It is true that some people were physically prevented from attending by the antifa thugs outside the venue. The university and Berkeley police did a poor job of clearing the thugs aside so that people with tickets could access the entrance.

Source: The Berkeley Scanner DOJ to investigate Turning Point event in Berkeley https://share.google/Z2iZ8ESgJ3JNvNXvQ

"Federal authorities say they will investigate whether UC Berkeley provided "adequate security" at Monday night's Turning Point USA event on campus.

Harmeet K. Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice, announced the plans Tuesday on X, writing that "Mob assault and thuggish intimidation of attendees exercising their First Amendment rights are unacceptable."

Dhillon wrote that her division would launch "a full investigation into the potential failures at UC Berkeley and any who enabled such violence" at Monday night's TPUSA event at Zellerbach Hall."

Questions:

Did Harmeet K. Dhillon, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice launch "a full investigation into the potential failures at Utah Valley University and any who enabled such violence against Mr. Kirk?"
If not, why not?
If so, what was the result of the investigation and what action was taken against the university?

Exactly.

And how does he know that Dan Mogulof relied on the LA Times for his info ... instead of his own eyewitness account or that of staff?
