This sounds like a great idea, but they don't seem to have the budget to build it.

Much needed. Hope they figure out a way to make this happen

LA has a huge deficit, and is in the process of declaring bankruptcy due to over $10 billion in fire claims. Someone else (federal or state taxpayers) is paying for it to happen, if it ever happens.

Yep. Maybe some sort of private financing but not sure how that works with public transportation

This would be helpful for so many people. Unfortunately, if you add the magical 2.3 multiplier for large capital projects with so many unknown factors such as this, the total cost of construction may be closer to $60 billion.

Not sure how that works in LA, an urban sprawl of a city where people need a car to get to a destination that is not near walking distance of a subway station. Maybe a shared electric bike system or carshare lots near subway stations.

Most folks in suburban locations drive to the metro parking lots. I drive to the metro station when I got see lafc or acfc (near USC).
