My daughter just chose UC Santa Cruz over UC Davis. The alternative vibes plus the campus did it for her. After not really fitting in, in high school she feels like Santa Cruz would be home.

Honestly, all you have to do is step on campus amongst the redwoods to feel like you should live in Santa Cruz forever.

That's what ive heard but ive never been. My wife took her to Santa Cruz and I took her to Pomona, lol. But it was more than the place, it was the people.

My daughter also got into both; also in engineering. But she grew up in Berkeley and wanted a change of scenery, so that probably was the greatest influence. I can tell you she loved UCLA.
