My mom passed way too early (when I was 20), but she was a great mom. She grew up kinda poor in Brooklyn, during the Great Depression. If she were still here, she would be super-happy to see my kids.

Was with my mom yesterday. She didn't remember being in my sister's house before (many times) or meeting her husband's parents (many times), but she handled it very gracefully and was happy. She's a (sorority redacted) Golden Bear. Was a Big Game "Princess" and a (fraternity redacted) Queen. Married a (fraternity redacted) Golden Bear, and has a current Golden Bear granddaughter (through me).

My Mom dropped out of Cal her sophomore year when she met my Dad who had come down from UW to get a Master's in Poli-Sci in 1957. She was a secretary in the poli-sci department and worked for noted political scientist, Eugene Burdick.
Burdick was a Cold War liberal who supported the Vietnam War.
After having completed his undergrad at 'Furd he went into the Navy for four years.
In 1958, he was co-author of the novel The Ugly American
