Just a friendly warning:

I have been getting two pop up scams exclusively on the BI website.
One is a fake McAfee anti virus scam (which I will screen shoot and post next time I get it) and the more frequent one that pops up is this one:



I looked into why this may be happening. It is probably caused by the aggressive pop up ad on the mobile site:

"Many aggressive ads are designed so that clicking the "X" to close the window actually triggers a redirect to a phishing page or triggers an unsolicited download."

Just as I was getting off this site this showed up (the nefarious actors are surveillaning me):

I was getting these pop-up scams earlier last month on my workstation. Not from my mobile phone.

It turned the website into a very slow functioning and clunky application with numerous freezes

Bearinsider appears to have some security issues.

No issues if you fork up the $12 a month or whatever it is now. Support the board.

"Well! I didn't know you wanted to get involved with the discussion, Mr. Helper!"


If that is the case, wouldn't it be more direct to just terminate the free board?

I stopped complaining about the pop up that makes this site jittery months ago because I realize that the owner is entitled to generate some coin on a free site.

….. but now that x ing out the pop up is causing a redirection to phishing sites sending out scam pop ups, maybe the Mods may want to alert the advertiser of the issue, or, if possible, switch to a more tech savvy advertiser.

This is good advice. Not sure why folks need to attack you because of it. Btw, I also agree with Bearister that his post was intended to just let folks know some ads linked to phishing sites.
