Which election are you watching, goat boy? Or, more appropriate, what reality are you living in? I don't see any candidates or parties that have the platform you describe. Great use of straw man argument, though. You're a good little Rightie. Keep reading that playbook!

CB93 have you seen enough or are you still waiting for more evidence before condemning Republican leaders?calbear93 said:Well, I think you are wrong on the conservative movement. I think you are right about the feckless Republican leaders if this is true and they continue to stay silent. The day of reckoning will come when the thing they fear the most, losing their Senate majority and losing their seat, will become true when enough conservatives will be fed up with the bull**** and give moderate Democrats a shot. Because it they continue to worship on the altar of Trump and betray their conservative values, then no amount of conservative judges will convince me to vote for any of these cowards or anyone who comes close to being unprincipled ever again. The only way the Democrats can screw this up is to take this opportunity to go so far left that people who are ready to jump get gun shy again.Unit2Sucks said:I posted a video of acting chief of DHS acknowledging this is happening but if you need to hear it from Reuters, well here you go.golden sloth said:Tedhead94 said:
As an Oregon resident and with several friends and family that are Portland residents I find the skepticism and doubt both telling and disturbing. This is very much happening right now and is not limited to protecting the federal buildings.
My skepticism stems from Reuters not having reported it yet, from the BBC not having reported it yet, and from vox (who is left leaning and would usually be all over something like this) not having reported it yet. These reports may still come, but I've never been the type to rush to judgment, and prefer to have multiple reports from news organizations I trust, and not use Twitter as a reliable source of information.
As for CB93's incredulity, it's time for him to come to terms with what has become of the conservative movement. Trump has been threatening/promising to send in federal law enforcement to "crack down" on protesters for weeks now. There has not been significant Republican opposition and he sees this as a win for him.Quote:
PORTLAND, Ore. (Reuters) - Federal law enforcement officers are cracking down on protesters in Portland, Oregon, under the Trump administration's new executive order to protect U.S. monuments in what the state's Democratic governor has called "political theater."
...
A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) spokeswoman said on Friday agents had been deployed to Portland to support a newly launched U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) unit, tasked with enforcing last month's executive order from Republican President Donald Trump to protect federal monuments and buildings.
The spokeswoman did not provide details, saying it could jeopardize the safety of agents, but said they had been trained for operations "in chaotic environments."
In addition to Border Patrol agents, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are helping DHS's Federal Protective Service, which provides security for federal buildings, ICE said.
Oregon Governor Kate Brown called it "a blatant abuse of power by the federal government,"
"This political theater from President Trump has nothing to do with public safety," Brown wrote on Twitter.

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand why people are defacing federal buildings or what they hope to accomplish with petty vandalism. I have seen enough. I have no love lost for "woke" white protesters defacing property and I do recognize that the federal police force have the right to protect federal building.
However, this is not it. And this is way over-reach by the federal government. I am a firm believer in strong state rights (including the protection that electoral college and senate provide), and this goes against my views on limited federal government.

But it shouldn't be an excuse for Republicans to justify creeping fascism.
This looks like a bad photo shop job to me. She's so much smaller than the manhole cover and the crosswalk stripe she's sitting next to and the way she's backlit looks odd. While I'm very suspicious of the unmarked federal agents, this image doesn't pass the sniff test for me.dimitrig said:

This event shows the ridiculousness of it all. A bunch of guys in body armor shooting rubber bullets at a naked lady.

This comment is not very cool and you could have made your retort without making it so personal -- or dismissive of Cal Poly, which I understand to be a solid regional school (USWNR #4 regional university in the West).calbear93 said:This right here is the brilliance of someone who teaches at Cal Poly. This CANNOT be allowed to continue. If Trump thinks this will help him gain support, he is sadly mistaken.
I've never felt this way before. It's like the country is coming apart at the seams. Trump needs to be stopped. Now.

And this board mocks University of Arizona, University of Washington, USC, and even UCLA, but Cal Poly is somehow off limit? Why is that?
