Yeah, but I've called him out for it.

Come decision time my son will do what's best for him. Part of the equation is he will have many more opportunities than I had. The rest of the decision making points aren't for this board. I've been able to see behind the curtain and I've shared that with him. Wilcox is incredible but he will get snatched away. That's part of the problem with Cal.

Sycasey - you and I have had some heated discussions, but it was substantive in nature and not just "snowflake", "RWNJ", "yeah, but you are a MAGAt" (forget that I have been against Trump since 2015). The three liberal trolls, with two in particular (you all know who they are), that is all they do. I cannot recall a single substantive, not tribalistic post they have made or where they have contributed any meaningful insight. So, while I will disagree obviously more with those who are liberal, I will try to discuss on substantive matters with those like you, OTB, BearNIT, DBB, and others who may take positions opposed to mine but who are actually trying to discuss rationally. I am not out there just throwing insults as the one and only other than to those three who deserve no better because they do nothing else. I have posted disagreement with the conservative posters on matters where I disagree, but I probably respond less with them when I don't disagree strongly enough (even if I may disagree on some of the points).

But there have been couple of posters, including DDB who is legitimately trying to elevate the discussions, calling me out for insulting those trolls, while often not commenting on all of the littering done by those three. And when someone is trying to clean up but rebukes only one side (especially someone like me who does try to add actual substantive discussion), then the reproach carries less weight. Just letting DBB know.

I honestly find it pretty pointless to go through this kind of scorekeeping tit-for-tat on who called out who and how many times. I just accept that no one is going to do it perfectly evenly, because we all have different ideas about what is the most odious behavior. And yes, I admit that I probably did engage in this kind of scorekeeping in the past. I don't think it was helpful.

Best practice is just to try to present your best values up front and ignore those who just want to troll you.

Drifted here a while ago and sat on the sidelines for years. Fortunate enough to have played football at Cal, served my country, and continued serving in my community. Proud of all three and the commitment and determination it took to achieve them.

He says things that seem substantive but actually aren't.

Drifted here a while ago and sat on the sidelines for years. Fortunate enough to have played football at Cal, served my country, and continued serving in my community. Proud of all three and the commitment and determination it took to achieve them.

Recently, I took an ill advised turn off of growls and landed in this place. Put a bunch of things out there and stand behind them regardless of what came back at me. Found that my love for Cal and Cal football just isn't what it used to be. Loved taking my boys to see Cal games and see their love grow as well. But as the father of a very talented football player with many options coming his way, I've moved him off Cal and onto other schools. Fortunately, he didn't mind as he's seen what Cal football can do to a person over the course of too many coulda, woulda, shouldas.

This was never a place for the exchange of diverse viewpoints, there was only one view and it was horrible. The bubble was getting larger as they bounced their thoughts and feelings off one another for reassurance and validation like teenagers. Trump can't be Hitler, but he can be Hitler-like. I'd say he's more un-Hitler-like than Hitler-like. I don't see him invading or genociding, but his instincts, derived from a lifetime of heading up business enterprises, are more fascist than democratic, and his ignorance of the value of our institutions threaten important pillars on which we all rely.

Not all of his supporters are racist, but do you think none are?

If your primary points are that Trump is not Hitler, and the great majority of his supporters aren't racist, I think that is fair.

I'm guessing that what people take issue with, including growing numbers from the right, is that Trump is both more like Hitler, and has played on race, more than any other president in our lifetime. I think that is also fair.

It's very simple actually. I don't care what people think of Trump but please don't be surprised that the discourse here is so poor when you hear you things like Trump is Hitler. Even your statement Trump is more un-Hitler than Hitler-like is ridiculous. And so from this everything else flows.

As for your last comment, it's the left that is obsessed with race and has played on race, not Trump. According to the left, the country is systemically racist, it's not just one person.
