Michelle & Barack---an arranged marriage--Barack was very single at the time ( I will allow you to google thew videos & pictures if they haven't been taken down) Bachelors simply can't be allowed to run for President. so---Barack was "cleaned up" for the unsuspecting masses in more ways than one. I will allow you to figure out the "other ways." Muslim??Probably--,Socialist or Communist???probably---( Please read his history) Antipathy toward whites???You bet--please see and hear his 8 years in office--egotistical???Every bit as Trump--directed federal agencies to spy on the Trump administration - as well as Trump and his family???You bet---Please see and read all the de-classified documents as well as the terrific IG report. Please see the repeated lies to the FISA court to spy on Trump, his family and Carter page who was a CIA asset who was being used by the CIA to spy on Russia---not for Russia..if Obama were a white conservative, he;'d be wearing black and white pinstripes in Sing Sing today instead of playing golf --with his rich friends on Marthas vineyard. Honest historians will not be so kind as the Whoopie Goldsbergs who make up the MSM.

So I'm trying to figure this out. When the African-American community talks about inequality keeping them poor, the conservative response is that all the opportunities are there and they should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps. But when highly accomplished black people like the Obamas actually do so, their success is met with suspicion and they are criticized for how much money they make. So is it bad or good when black folks do well in America? Is there actually a standard that would satisfy the Right?

Dear Sy: Look at every major city in the US. Then look at what political party controls that city. Then look at the black communities in those cities. The standards for becoming responsible citizens are the same for all people regardless of race, creed or color.
1) Stay in school until you have a degree which renders you capable of getting decent work. If necessary, have at least two jobs until you are on your feet financially.
2) When you are solvent, consider marriage.
3) Thenhave children if that is your desire

4) Do the above in that exact order.

Today, roughly 75-90% of black kids are born intro one-parent families. Quite often, the black male is absent and the black mother is left to tend to an ever-increasing family. The "welfare" system, although conceived in good faith, only gives financial assistance to the family if the father its absent. This dependency cycle repeats itself for generations. Black males need Fathers in the home just as White males need their Fathers. Often in black families, even the Mother is absent and grandmothers and aunts are left to attend to larger and larger families.

It also wouldn't hurt to instill a reverence for all human life. Talk to anyone in the Medical community, and, they will tell you that, although black females comprise roughly 6% of our population, roughly 26% of abortioins occur in black families.
Mayors of cities with large black populations have very little incentive to introduce policies which would improve the lives of their Black constituents because they know, at election time, blacks automatically pull the lever for the Democrat. Consequently, money is spent on other constituencies in order to in fluence their votes come election time.

it also wouldn't hurt to allow all Black parents to send their kids to private charter schools in order to escape the one-size fits all public education system which rarely insists on discipline and rigorous academic standards.

Want proof??Listen to black athletes in the NBA and the NFL who are college graduates, and, if you are not embarrassed by their sentence structures, then I submit that you are perpetuating the bigotry of low expectations . If you demand high expectations, you usually get highj expectations as well as respect. No on e really respects systems off dependency

So---mr. sycasey--you asked--I hope this helps.

You seem to have missed the other part of my point, which is that the Obamas did almost exactly what you asked and now you criticize them for enjoying the fruit of their labors (golfing with rich friends, etc.) and claim their marriage is a sham. So apparently it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Mayor of Anaheim = Republican
Mayor of San Bernardino = Republican
Mayor of Fort Worth = Republican
Mayor of Tulsa = Republican

I am not sure where you are going with that...

Except for arguably San Diego none of these cities is particularly lovely and most have high crime rates - some significantly worse than average.

Well, we had basically the entirety of the NFL and NBA player base mentioned in this very thread.

Moreover, I am not talking about disliking Obama's politics. I'm talking about nonsense like saying he shouldn't have rich friends or live in a wealthy area or that his marriage is fake. Isn't that supposed to be your reward for a life of hard work and success? Even before he entered politics, both Barack and Michelle Obama were accomplished professionals.

Dear Casey". Tr ump has been tougher on China than any other President in recent history. You are not entitled to your set of facts. Trump has been tougher on 'our allies" also--he has demanded that they meet their financial obligations regarding NATO. No other American President has made such demands. . If you are afraid of the Bear" invading your country, then you have the moral and contractual obligation of paying your fair share. why should American men and women fight in disproportionate numbers because our Western allies shirk their responsibilities. No thank you!!!We bailed you out of two world wars and now you are going to fight your own battles in numbers which reflect your numbers. Trump has also been much tougher on Iran and ISIS than Obama ever dreamed. Trump has also been more friendly toward Israel than any other presidents since 1948. Trump is mostly a hero in Israel. At one point, the approval rate for Obama in Israel was 4%!!!!!That's 4%!!! We also now know that Obama tried in vain to topple the Bibi government in Israel. how many Americans kn ow that????israelites know it!!!Again--you are entitled to your opinions--you are not entitled to your facts.

" At a campaign stop in Wisconsin last week, he warned baldly: "The only way we're going to lose this election is if the election is rigged."

He has also targeted the postal service. With the pandemic making physical distancing imperative, a record number of mail-in ballots is expected, meaning that the outcome is unlikely to be known on election night. Trump recently admitted that he was blocking money sought by Democrats for the postal service so he could stop people voting by mail....

... This week a bipartisan Senate intelligence report revealed the extent of contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election. It found that Paul Manafort, the former campaign chairman, worked closely with "Russian intelligence officer" Konstantin Kilimnik. US intelligence has warned that Russia is already interfering in the 2020 election with the aim of getting Trump re-elected.

But such threats currently appear less fundamental than that posed by a president gone rogue a man who this week welcomed the support of believers in a baseless righting conspiracy theory that holds the world is run by a shadowy cabal of Satan-worshipping paedophiles."

You aren't being fair ... to 2 year olds. Toddlers are inquisitive and constantly learning about the world around them. Two year olds can make emotional connections with other humans and are beginning to learn about the benefits of sharing and reciprocity. You can't say the same for Trump. His own family despises him and he's incapable of putting anyone's interests before his own even for a moment. When asked about his deceased brother, all he could say is how much the brother looked up to and supported DJT. Regardless of policy, anyone with half a brain can see how malignant Trump is and why he's dangerous at POTUS. Some Republicans look past it because the benefit from his grift (like Bannon, Manafort and others) or because he can easily be manipulated (donors, business leaders and Putin). There's a reason that virtually no one who has left the administration has anything good to say about him - only the small number of players still looking to cash in like Nikki Haley.
