Tell me again who wants authoritarianism?

An extremely non-PC paper published by arguably the most respected scientific journal group in the world indicates that women in science who have a male mentor are far more likely to be successful than when they have a female mentor.

Of course liberals are now up in arms about it and trying to suppress this study.

I thought liberals were the ones that always believed in science and conservatives where the science haters.

What about the "conservative rage mob" blatantly trying to overturn the results of the presidential election?

When are you going to rail about them?

I guess fake outrage is better than real outrage.

It's part of Hanky's "Hey! Look over there!" strategy.

When Democrats say believe the science, they're just saying they only believe the scientists they agree with.
The difference between a right wing conspiracy and the truth is about 20 months.

Fortunately, many people in the 10 most obese states can't read.

"10. South Carolina, 9. Alaska, 8. Kentucky, 7. Arkansas, 6. Louisiana, 5. Alabama, 4. Iowa, 3. Oklahoma, 2. Mississippi, and the most obese state in the U.S. is West Virginia."

I'm not sure what your point is.

I don't think we should have mentors solely by gender.

Is that your entire point, because... duh!

I voted democrat this year, and I dont think being fat is healthy.

I also think that although some people are genetically predisposed to being overweight, the percentage of obese people that are always going to be that way is a small percentage. For the other 95% of obese people, it comes down to the desire and discipline to habitually eat well, exercise well, and surprisingly sleep well.

There is also something to the idea of body types. But there is always a healthy version of your body type compared to an unhealthy version, and I believe a focus on people being healthier instead of 'being skinny' is a more effective approach to get people to take responsibility and not be so damned fat.

Without even reading the Cosmo United Kingdom article, which hanky1 wrongly assumed was US Cosmo, I see that hanky1 was misled once again by his Epoch Times/Parler feed, which made it seem like that one photo was the cover of the magazine.

Here's the context:

I also consider myself very liberal, but the trend towards "fat acceptance" and junk science to support said cause in some corners of the left is not something I support. The argument against "fat shaming" is one thing: being mean to fat people doesn't help anything. But we shouldn't confuse that with the idea that obesity is okay for your long-term health, as long as you "accept" your body for what it is. It's definitely not okay.

That's not about body types. Healthy bodies can come in different shapes.

I'm in a similar boat. I'm not going to intentionally be mean or make a fat person feel bad because they are fat, but I'm also not going to pretend they are perfect the way they are and celebrate it. If they ask me, I'm not going to lie, rather use a respectful tact and say they should try to lose weight through diet, exercise and proper sleep. The sleep thing is more because it let's the body regulate hormones, stress, and impulse better.

I come from a fat family. Dad died at 62 from 300 lbs and heart failure. I was 32 and 50 lbs overweight. I got message, lost the weight and am now 80 and the same lower weight. My sister and I and 6 cousins grew up in the same environment and they are all obese. While none have died, me, the youngest by only a couple years am the only one not using a Walker, cane or wheelchair and two have to have oxygen bottles.
