Gibson to Retire, Psalms to Grad Transfer
Former 2015 Cal football recruits Ryan Gibson and Malik Psalms announced their intentions to move on in 2019.
Gibson is retiring after his fourth season with the Bears having one season of eligibility remaining, tweeting:
“I am so thankful to Cal Football for giving me some of my best friends and memories of my college career. Four seasons has flown by, and I will always cherish my moments on the field. On to the next adventure! Farewell football.”
Psalms announced his intention to grad transfer with one year of eligibility, tweeting:
“Thought I’d let you all know that I will be pursuing my masters degree elsewhere, along with my final season of college football. Thanks to @CalFootball for everything they have taught me in the past 4 years. I love you all.”
Gibson played several positions on the offensive line as a backup and occasional starter. He played in nine games as a redshirt junior in the 2018 season.
Psalms came in as a 4 star cornerback recruit in 2015, moving to linebacker as a soph. He was primarily a backup, as well, playing in 11 games in his redshirt junior season.
