Kicker Thomas Earns Scholly For Bears

Senior Cal kicker Greg Thomas has reportedly earned a scholarship with the Bears after starting his junior season.

Originally from Petaluma High School, where he was a first-team selection as both a junior and senior, Thomas spent his first two years of collegiate play at Arizona State before transferring to CCSF to complete his AA in 2017.

After walking on at Cal, Thomas earned the starting placekicker position, converting 12-of-17 field goal attempts and a perfect 32-for-32 in PAT’s.

Thomas will complete his senior season at Cal in 2019.

Always good to be able to reward senior walk-on contributors with a scholarship.

I think that field goal kickers are generally underappreciated. You may have noticed the number of low scoring games last year. The more low scoring games there are the more important field goal kickers become. I think it would be worth while to recruit the best place kicker obtainable. In the meantime, we are lucky to have this player.
