Alfieri Completes the Commitment Trifecta For Cal
The Bears received a commitment to day from the state of Oregon’s top linebacker recruit -Jesuit Catholic (Portland, Or) LB Andy Alfieri.
“I went down there for my second time this weekend, this time for a full visit,” said Alfieri.
“When I went down, it just felt right and it was the perfect fit for me. It’s the perfect fit for me and it’s a great opportunity to pave my own path.”
The brother of former Stanford linebacker Joey Alfieri, the 6-2/220 Alfieri brings a tenacious, hard-hitting playing style the field, helping lead the Crusaders to a 14-3 record before falling to eventual state champ Lake Oswego in the state semifinals.
The Bears got in early on Alfieri, giving a boost to their recruiting efforts.
“Cal was my second offer, so they built an early relationship,” noted Alfieri. “I talk most with (ILB) Coach (Peter) Sirmon the most, as they’re recruiting me at inside linebacker.”
Besides offers from Cal and Oregon, the 4 star LB also fielded offers from Utah and Oregon State, along with Air Force.
Alfieri joined Lake Oswego receiver Casey Filkins and Central East receiver Jeremiah Hunter as Cal’s three commitments on the day and fifth overall for Cal’s 2020 class.
