Lee Pulls Trigger, Commits to Cal on BBQ Weekend Visit
6-2/205 Desert Vista (Mesa, Arizona) receiver Aidan Lee made the trip out to Cal for their bbq recruiting weekend weeks after receiving his Cal offer. The visit lived up to his expectations, as the 2020 WR became the Bears’ 17th commit of the class.
Lee was one of three uncommitted 2020 recruits along with SoCal defensive end Ethan Saunders and Connecticut DT Jaedon Roberts and a host of committed 2020 commits and 2021 targets.
Lee announced his commitment on Twitter minutes ago, saying:
“First I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the game that I love. I would also like to thank my mom, dad and coaches for supporting me and helping me make my decision.
“With that being said, I am 100% COMMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CAL BERKELEY!
“It was a great visit,” said Lee. “I took a photo shoot, went up to the 8th floor to see the views, which were amazing., hung out and played games and ate at the barbeque. It was a great time. Loved it.
“It really surprised me how amazing everything is over there and the Bay Area was great.”
Lee received his Cal offer earlier this month after visits from wide receivers coach Burl Toler III, Arizona recruiting specialist and special teams coach Charlie Ragle and running backs coach Nick Edwards, who came away impressed by his size, skills and work ethic.
“They came to see me run routes out here in Arizona,” said Lee said earlier. “They recruit the area really hard. We’ve built up a great relatonship.
“They really like how big I am and how I can play for them as a big receiver and go up and get contested balls for them.”
Lee is a notoriously hard worker and his offseason efforts have begun to pay off with size, strength and speed gains heading into his senior season.
Stay tuned for more from this weekend’s visits.
