USC Film Review

Injuries and an ugly performance by the Cal defense ruined the evening for a big crowd and a nice group of recruit visits on Saturday. While there were some new issues (secondary), the big bugaboo on defense in 2019 reared its head once again.

  • USC QB Kaedon Slovis had an exceptional game; as good a QB performance against Cal since Justin Herbert shredded the Bears in 2018.  Slovis’s movement in the pocket and ability stand-in and take a hit while delivering an accurate ball was outstanding.  
  • The gap between Chase Garbers and Devon Modster was on full display.  Despite questionable protection and missing some key WRs, Garbers was more effective in moving the ball.
