Seven Pac-12 Football Teams Headed to the Postseason

SAN FRANCISCO ––No. 6 OREGON (11-2) returns to the Rose Bowl Game for the first time since the 2015 season after the Ducks defeated No. 11 UTAH, 37-15, in the Pac-12 Conference Championship Game.

The Ducks, who won their 12th Pac-12 title, earned a spot in the Rose Bowl Game against No. 8 Wisconsin (10-3) from the Big Ten Conference on Wed., Jan. 1. This will be the sixth meeting between these two teams, and first since the 2012 Rose Bowl Game where Oregon prevailed, 45-33.

Utah (11-2) will make its first appearance in the Valero Alamo Bowl and face Texas (7-5) of the Big 12 Conference on Tues., Dec. 31. It will be the second meeting between the Utes and Longhorns, and first since a 1962 victory by Texas (21-12).

No. 22 USC (8-4) will meet No. 16 Iowa (9-3) of the Big Ten Conference in the San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl on Fri., Dec. 27. This will be the third Holiday Bowl appearance for the Trojans, with all coming in the last six years. This will be the 10th meeting between the two teams, and just the second postseason matchup as the Trojans knocked off Iowa, 38-17, in the 2003 Orange Bowl.

CALIFORNIA (7-5) has been selected by the Redbox Bowl to meet Illinois (6-6) of the Big Ten Conference on Mon., Dec. 30. The Bears will be making their second appearance in the Bay Area bowl game and the 11th meeting all-time with the Illini, but first in the postseason.

The three remaining Pac-12 contracted bowls chose their participants based on order of final Conference standings. The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl pits ARIZONA STATE (7-5) against Florida State (6-6) of the ACC on Tues., Dec. 31. The Mitsubishi Motors Las Vegas Bowl will match WASHINGTON (7-5) with Mountain West Champion No. 19 Boise State (12-1) on Sat., Dec. 21. The Cheez-It Bowl slots WASHINGTON STATE (6-6) against Air Force (10-2) from the Mountain West Conference on Fri., Dec. 27.

In all, the Pac-12 will face three teams from the Big Ten, one team from the Big 12, one from the ACC and two from the Mountain West Conference. Three of the seven opponents were ranked in the final CFP Top 25.
