Bears Start 2022 Class Strong With Commitment from Williams
The Bears started off their 2022 recruiting class early and with a bang with tonight’s commitment from 4 star (247, ESPN) 6-1/300 Bishop Alemany defensive tackle Damonic Williams tonight.
Williams will be reunited with fellow Alemany d-lineman Myles Williams, who will be on campus in 2021 at DE for the Bears.
Williams kept his commitment announcement short and sweet, announcing on Twitter tonight:
“COMMITTED...Proud to be a Bear!”
Dominant at the point of attack and a true nose tackle, the junior two way lineman gives the Bears the size and strength they covet up the middle, particularly after not signing a nose tackle in 2020 and thin depth at the position in 2020’s covid-plagued season.
One of the earliest 2022 offerees, the Bears extended an offer to Williams last summer.
As a soph at Narbonne before transferring to Bishop Alemany, Willaims had 44 tackles with nine tackles for a loss, three sacks, one pass breakup, one forced a fumble in eight games in his All-Marine League season.
The Bears beat out USC, Washington, ASU, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon State, Michigan, Michigan State and more for Williams’ services.
Stay tuned for more from Williams on his commitment to Cal.
