When college football players change positions, it can be for a variety of reasons. Sometimes a player struggles at his initial spot and coaches hope there will be production somewhere else.

Or maybe a team’s ranks are so thin in one place, another player is thrown in there out of desperation. 

Neither of those is the case with Cal sophomore Trey Paster, who made the move from safety to inside linebacker this spring.
