David Bush

David has been writing for Bear Insider since 2009. A Cal alum (Class of 1967) he began his professional sports-writing career as an undergrad. On weekends he covered high school sports for his hometown paper The Hayward Daily Review. He also worked for the Daily Californian, serving as sports editor as a senior as well as correspondent for the San Francisco Examiner. In 1972, he joined The San Francisco Chronicle sports department and remained there until 2006. In his tenure at the Sporting Green, he covered the gamut of Bay Area sports, the Raiders, the 49ers, the A's, the Giants and of course Cal. His work has also appeared in The Washington Post, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated and the Dallas Morning News. He and his wife Lesly live in Walnut Creek.
