After 15 months of not hosting recruits on campus, the wait is finally over, as six of Cal's 2022 recruiting targets will be on campus Friday till Sunday on official visits June 4-6.

Jaxson Moi‍ Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, CA) DE The 6-3/260 DE is a high Cal target with his size, motor, character and academics with his 4.2 gpa. Moi earned all-state honors for Cathedral. “I’m looking forward to everything but mostly just finally meeting the coaches, players, and other recruits,” said Moi. The Bears were in on Moi early but the talented 3 star DE has continued to see offers roll in, including USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon and more so the visit could play a key role in maintaining Moi’s high level of interest in the Bears.

Curlee Thomas‍ Nolan Catholic (Ft. Worth, TX) -The 6-4/240 OLB is high on the Bears OLB target list and also is high on the Bears, looking forward to his Bay Area visit. As a junior, Thomas compiled 58 tackless, 22 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, 30 QB hurries, two fumble recoveries and one safety, earning 1st team all-state and leading the state in sacks. “I’m really excited to meet the coaches,” said Thomas. “After 8 months of relationship building, it will be good to put a name to the faces. I’m also interested in seeing the engineering deptartment. I’m also excited about the film study aspect so I can see how I’ll be used.” The 3 star OLB, who holds 42 offers, will next visit Michigan State on the 11th, followed by Texas Tech, Purdue and LSU.

Jake Maikkula‍ Valor Christian (Highlands Ranch, CO) OT -The 6-6/265 OT has locked in most of his visits already, with the Bears coming first on June 4. “I’m really looking forward to the visit and meeting the coaches in person and getting a better feel for the area,” said Maikkula, who led his Valor Christian squad to a 7-1 record, losing in the state championship. The 3 star OT holds 22 offers and will next visit Virginia on June 11. It will be his second time on campus after visiting unofficially with his mom in the spring. Maikkula earned 1st team academic all-state honors as well as 1st team all-conference and 2nd team all-state.

Nate Burrell‍ St. John Bosco HS (Bellflower, CA) DE -The 6-3/265 4 star DE . Burrell noted that he was most looking forward to, “Just the environment and the staff as a whole.” As a soph, the 4 star DL had 53 tackles, 6 ½ sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery. Burrell has a strong offer list that includes USC, Oregon, Washington, Miami, Michigan and more. As of now, Cal is his only scheduled official visit.

Jackson Brown‍ San Ramon Valley OL -The 6-6/285 local offensive lineman from SRV parlayed a strong spring junior season into a Cal offer. He locked in his official visit for the second weekend of June the week after his offer was extended but moved it up to the first weekend instead. “I’m most looking forward to meeting all the coaches and seeing what campus looks and feels like,” said Brown, who received 1st team all-state honors. Brown, who has family who’ve attended Cal, most recently pulled in a Tennessee offer this week.

Ashton Hayes‍ McQueen HS (Reno, NV) RB  -The speedy (4.48 electronic 40), shifty Reno RB is a big target for the Bears and the talented running back is high on the Bears, as well. Also offered by Stanford, Utah as well as a host of Ivy League programs, Nebraska seems to be the Bears’ biggest rival for the talented 3 star back.

Bottom Line:

The Bears would be happy to have commitments from any of the six official visitors, kicking off a month of 25 official visits. Don’t be surprised to see the Bears back on the commitment board again after grabbing January commitments from QB Justyn Martin‍ and DT Damonic Williams‍.
