Brown Impressed on His Visit to Cal
After a strong junior season, the Bears extended an offer in April to 6-6/285 San Ramon Valley junior OT Jackson Brown and last weekend, Brown took the an official visit to Cal along with fellow OT Jake Maikkula, RB Ashton Hayes, DE’s Jaxson Moi and Nate Burrell and OLB Curlee Thomas
The Bears have been recruiting Brown since September -one of the first programs to get in contact. During those past seven months, Brown and his family have built strong bonds with Cal offensive line coach Angus McClure and the visit only strengthened his relationship with the program.
“I thought the visit was great,” said Brown. “I felt at home when I was there. All of the staff were great and took good care of me and my family. You can tell the culture is on the rise.
“I was very comfortable with the staff. Coach McClure and (OL asst) Coach (Will) Heck are both guys that I could really develop under if I came to Cal. I loved every single coach on the staff.
“My host was Brayden Rohme and he gave me a great idea of what my career could look like if I was to come here. Brayden also did a great job of answering all my questions.”
Overall, the visit was a hit with Brown and his family.
“Everything about Cal was awesome,” said Brown. “The facilities, campus and academics are all excellent. The facilities are insane. Coach Wilcox has done a great job of putting this place together.
“Campus was beautiful and easy to get around. You can’t beat Cal’s academics, it’s crazy to see what internships and jobs you can get out of going to Cal.
Brown’s visit was the first of several scheduled this month, with his father’s alma mater up next this weekend.
“I’m going to visit Pittsburgh and Colorado officially and also go to Washington State, Indiana, and Tennessee unofficially this June,” said Brown. “I’m going to make a decision anytime from August to December, but anything can change.”
