Cal center Michael Saffell, who recently announced his retirement from football, has been the vocal leader not only of the offensive line but perhaps the entire offense the past three seasons.

He has charisma, natural leadership, and football talent, which make his departure painful. The good news is that the Bears' offensive line recruiting the last few years has been solid.
