Five months after making his commitment to Cal, 6-6/295 San Ramon Valley OT Jackson Brown made it official today, signing his letter of intent with Cal.

Brown announced his commitment via Twitter this morning, saying, “40 years ago today, my dad signed his national letter of intent to go play college football. Today I’ll be doing the same thing. Everything I do is for him. I’ll always be carrying on his legacy every time I put on a helmet.

“I want to thank my mom for raising me as a single mother. She’s the strongest woman I’ve ever met. Thank you to my grandpa for pushing me to do my homework every day, even if I didn't want to do it.

“Thank you to all my coaches who have helped me train throughout these past few years. Thank you to every school that has recruited me these past two years.

“I could’ve gone to a lot of places but 1 school just stood out and felt right. Can't wait to sign my NLI and stay home to be a Golden Bear!”

Following up his tweet, Brown said via Cal Football’s twitter account: “What’s up Cal family? Jackson Brown here from San Ramon Valley High School. Can’t wait to play for my hometown team. Go Bears!”

The Bears were one of the first programs to offer Brown but certainly not the last, as the 3 star OT saw 31 offers in all come in, including hid dad’s alma mater Pittsburgh, USC, Tennessee, Miami, Virginia, Colorado, Arizona, ASU and more.

The two-time first team All-EBAL OT had a strong spring season that caught several programs’ eyes including Cal and a fantastic senior season only drew more attention for the talented Brown, as he watched the offers continue to roll in until late in the recruitin processes befores sticking with the Bears.

Brown becomes the 14th 2022 player to sign with the Bears, who are expected to round out their class with another 3-5 players in the spring transfer portal after adding Purdue QB transfer Jack Plummer, Washington MLB Jackson Sirmon and Utah DE Xavier Carlton for spring 2022. All are expected to participate in spring ball.
