SAN FRANCISCO – Cal women's basketball freshman guard Jayda Curry has been named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.

Curry had a monstrous second half in the win over USC last Friday evening, scoring 19 of her team-high 21 points after the intermission. The Corona, Calif., native went 9-for-10 from the line in that contest, including a pair of free throws with under 38 seconds remaining to tie the game at 59-59 prior to Leilani McIntosh's game-winning shot with four seconds to play.

For the week, Curry averaged 16.5 points per game, while grabbing five rebounds per contest and three assists per game. The 21 points against the Trojans was her seventh of the season, in 15 games played. Against UCLA on Sunday afternoon, she finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.

For the season, Curry is averaging 19.8 points per game which is 21st in the nation and the Pac-12 and second among all freshmen. Curry's five Freshman of the Week awards are second-most in program history behind Kristine Anigwe who won the award eight times in 2015-16.

The Golden Bears return to action on Friday when they host Colorado at 7:00 p.m. Friday's game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.

yes congrats to Jayda

I'm a little surprised by this one ... vs USC she was great, but she didn't have her best game on many levels vs UCLA
