Curry, McIntosh Earn All-Conference Honors
SAN FRANCISCO – Two members of the Cal women's basketball team have earned all-conference honors for their standout play as announced by the conference office on Tuesday morning. Freshman guard Jayda Curry was named to the All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention and All-Freshman Team, while Leilani McIntosh earned All-Defensive honorable mention accolades. The annual Pac-12 awards are voted on by the conference head coaches.

A 5-6 guard from Corona, Calif., Curry had an incredible freshman campaign. Curry is a five-time Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honoree, one of just nine players since the award was created in 2012-13 to win it five times or more. Averaging 18.7 points per game, Curry becomes the first freshman to lead the Pac-12 in scoring.
She finished second nationally among all freshmen in scoring and is one of three players from the Pac-12 to finish the regular season in the top-100 in scoring. Curry tallied eight games with 20 or more points this season, including a stellar 30-point performance at Stanford on Jan. 21.
Curry finished the year with 129 field goals made, including 47 from 3-point range – both of those led all freshman in the Pac-12. She shot 38.9 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from beyond the arc while averaging 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.8 assists per contest. Curry played in and started 22 games for the Bears this season, and averaged 34.4 minutes per contest.
For McIntosh, this is her first all-conference honor. The native of Phoenix, Ariz., has been a lockdown defender for the Bears. She ranks 93rd in the nation with 2.1 steals per contest, which ranks second in the Pac-12. Her 47 steals are 10 shy of a career-high, coming in 10 fewer games. In conference play, McIntosh recorded 28 steals which was the fourth most in the Pac-12. However, 24 of them have come over the last nine games. Against Washington, she finished with a career-high seven steals against the Huskies. She finished the season with two or more steals in seven-consecutive contests. She also finished the year with a career-high six blocks and 56 rebounds.
The Bears will return to action on Wednesday night when they take on six-seed Utah in the opening round of the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament in Las Vegas at the Michelob ULTRA Arena. Wednesday night's game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
