NEW YORK CITY – Cal junior Malik McMorris has earned a spot on the final ballot for the Piesman Trophy being given for the third consecutive season by SB Nation to a current or former college football lineman who has authored the most impressive play as a runner, receiver or passer.

McMorris, who began his collegiate career as a defensive lineman and now lines up at several different positions on offense, is on the ballot for his 18-yard reception that set up the go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter of Cal's 2017 season-opening win at North Carolina.

McMorris finished his 2017 junior campaign with five receptions for 39 yards and one touchdown while also rushing six times for 13 yards.

Fans can vote online for the 2017 Piesman Trophy winner until Thursday (9 am PT) at sbnation.com/a/piesman-ballot-2017 and also share online using the hashtag #Piesman. Three finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony to take place on December 8 at the SB Nation offices in New York City.

Malik is a good player. Wasn't aware of this award although after this Thanksgiving weekend I feel like I qualify for a Pies-man list.

Can we get a link to a video clip of the play?

Oh, it's in the above link... all of them are... and Malik is bottom left on the page.

One is forced to vote for 5.
I voted for Cal, and the 4 smallest schools on the list:
Heidelberg, St. Francis, Macmurray College, and Wyoming.
A wise homer strategy!
