Bears Make a Key Addition With Portal Transfer OT TJ Session
After a quartet of potential portal transfer prospects were on campus for their official visits Friday and Saturday, the Bears pulled a particularly important commitment from redshirt soph Montana State portal transfer right tackle TJ Session, who announced his commitment to Cal this morning.
The 6-4/295 Session prepped at Vista Murrieta High School in Menifee, CA, helping his team to an 8-3 record and Southwest League title as a senior, earning 1st team all-league, 1st team all-area, and Division I All-CIF honors.
Session arrived at Montana State in 2019 and redshirted. After their season was canceled due to Covid in 2020, Session started the first 10 games of last season at right tackle. He missed the next four with an injury and returned in the Football Championship Subdivision title game where he started and played the whole game in the Bobcat’s defeat.
Session noted earlier in an interview with 406MTSports.com that returning to the West Coast and being able to compete for a starting spot with a Power-5 program were motivating factors for him. Despite offers and proposed official visits from Arizona State, Oregon State and more, Session saw all he needed to see on his visit with his family, pulling the trigger for Cal.
Session is expected to compete with redshirt soph OT Brayden Rohme for the starting slot at right tackle this fall and is a key piece in helping shore up perhaps the only position group lacking depth in 2022.
