4 Star Texas OT Isaiah Robinson Talks About Visit, Recruiting Plans
Consensus 4 star Lamar (Arlington, TX) High School offensive tackle has been high Cal’s OL target list all year and last weekend, the Bears got the first official visit for the talented OT.
“It was amazing,” said Robinson of the visit. “The coaching staff, the players I got to hang out with, just every part of the trip was amazing.
“I wasn’t going in with any specific expectations because I didn’t know what it would be like there but the coaching staff, but Coach Saffell -the offensive GA coach-, Coach McClure, Coach AT, I have great relationships with them and so does my family so we knew we’d be treated really well but everything exceeded what we could have expected.”
Robinson also liked the vibe hanging around the players on his trip, where he didn’t feel the hard sell but rather a high comfort level.
“It was nice,” said Robinson. “I was really chill around the players and they were the same. It was great to go out and hang around with them. When we went out with the players, all the recruits were together so we got to know each other pretty well. They were good guys.”
The Bears got on the 6-7/280 OT early, with the relationship starting when running backs coach Aristotle Thompson paying him a visit through his recruiting territory in Texas.
“At first when Coach AT came to my school and it was my first contact with the program, I don’t know what it was about the conversation but Cal just piqued my interest,” said Robinson. “And from there on, I did research on the school and I’m into theater and stuff like that and Cal has just checked all the boxes.
“I want to be in a program where the players and coaches have good relationships. I asked the players what they thought about the coaching staff and they like them a lot. They said it feels like they’re all on the same team with them.
“I want to go to a place the coaches want me as much as I want them. I think Cal definitely wants me as much as I want them.”
The 4 star OT has an official visit set up for Baylor this weekend and hopes to set one up with Howard. As of now, no other OVs are planned. He has no immediate plans to announce a commitment and could wait till after the season.
Robinson holds offers from Texas, Tennessee, Auburn, USC and more.
