A day after his official visit to Cal, El Camino (Oceanside, CA) High School running back Chris Brown, Jr pulled the trigger for the Bears.

Brown cited his comfort level at Cal as one of the main reasons for his commitment.

"It was a lot of things, to be honest," said Brown. 'It was the school, the academics, the players that go there, the vision, the process, the way the coachs coach, the way people are there. I just felt really at home there. I feel like Cal's the best place for me.

"I'm just going to work to get better each day, being better than the I was the day before. Hard work is gonna pay off."

The 6-2/225 Brown announced his commitment today via Twitter:

"I want to thank all the coaches recruiting me through this process and giving me the opportunity to play D1 football. Hence there are a lot of kids that don't have that opportunity, therefore I'm forever grateful for this situation.

"This has been a humbling experience and only the start of an exciting journey.

"With that said, I'm officially committing to the University of California, Berkeley.  Please respect my decision! #Gobears #Cal."

Brown's visit to Cal went as well as the 4 star (Scout/247) running back hoped it would.

"It was great," said Brown of his visit. "We hung out with players, chilled with coaches and did a campus tour and a tour of the weight room. We got to know how things are there.

"I was very comfortable there. The vibe was awesome, enthusiastic."

Brown also holds offers from Washington, UCLA, Arizona, ASU, Utah, WSU and a host of other programs. The powerful back ran for 907 yards and 12 td's this season for El Camino, including two td's Friday night to lead the Wildcats to their first San Diego Section D1 championship in 18 years.

Brown and El Camino will face 10-3 Crenshaw in the SoCal Division 4AA finals this weekend for the right to go to the state championship game.

Brown joins fellow running back Johnny Adams in the backfield in Cal's 2018 class. His commitment brings the Bears' total to 19 commitments so far, with the early signing period coming up in less than three weeks.
