McIntosh, Martín Earn Pac-12 Preseason Honors
BERKELEY – California women’s basketball guards Leilani McIntosh and Kemery Martín earned All-Pac-12 honorable mentions, as voted on by the media and announced by the conference office on Monday.
McIntosh, one of the team representatives at Tuesday’s Pac-12 Media Day, was one of the most improved players in the conference in 2022-23 as she consistently ranked in the top 10 of the Pac-12 in 3-point field-goal percentage while topping the list at several points during the season. McIntosh increased her scoring average (9.8 PPG) by 46% from the previous season and had 18 double-figure scoring games compared to eight in 2021-22. She finished the season as one of only two players in the conference to average at least 47% from the field, 39% from deep and in the top 10 in assists (3.7 APG). McIntosh also completed the year ranked in the top 15 of the Pac-12 in both field goal and 3-point percentage. She enters this season sitting at No. 10 on Cal’s all-time career assists list with 382.
Martín returns as one of the most prolific 3-point shooters in the conference. She ended the 2022-23 season tied for the team lead with 59 made 3-pointers which ranked eighth in the Pac-12 and was good for seventh on Cal’s all-time single-season list. Martín was second on the team in scoring at 10.5 points per game, had nine games with at least three made 3-pointers and finished the season shooting 38.1% from deep, which ranked 10th in the Pac-12.
