The Rodcast - Different Dude Audiobook Preview

What’s up Cal fam? In the comments section of my last podcast, some folks were asking about some Cal stories. I haven’t given many as of yet, mostly because there were so many good ones in the book and I was working on that. That said, I’ll start doing a bit more storytime sessions since everyone seems interested. 

As it goes, I figured that the first one would be directly from my Audiobook since it came out today. Not only that, I included the intro since the first story in the book is a Cal story. It's one of my favorite Cal stories ever and I hope you enjoy it. Be warned that there’s some spicy language, otherwise I think it will help contextualize how I went from bad at basketball to good (?) while at Cal.

As for the video breakdowns, I’ll have one of those before the next game as well.

Such a fantastic introduction, I am totally hooked!

Why is it so hard to find a printed copy of the book? Amazon seems to only have Kindle versions.... I'm an old school physical hard copy kind of guy. I can't wait to read it, thanks for creating and sharing this with the world, Rod!

Maybe you can do a podcast where someone who's read the book interviews you about it?

BUY THE AUDIOBOOK!

straight up 7 hours of PURE ENTERTAINMENT!

I have already made two different people buy the audiobook, both listened to all seven hours in one sitting (being retired sounds nice.) Generally, I prefer to read a physical copy rather than an audio book, but hearing Rod read his own stories in his cadence really adds to the entertainment.

One question for Rod,

BOOM THO X CALIFORNIA LEGENDS COLLECTIVE collaboration???

I just wanted to bump this thread, because I finally had 7 free hours to listen to Rod's audiobook of Different Dude. Oh my, it's fantastic!

Rod pulls no punches, and definitely tells all, almost past the line of normalcy (which is why it's such a great work of art). If you ever wondered what it is like to play professional basketball overseas, or have dreams of playing in the NBA, this gives a no holds barred peek behind the curtain. Actually, it's not so much a peek, it's a full fledged immersion.

My only nitpick is that I'm worried Rod used up all his greatest stories, so there may not be a sequel (fingers crossed this isn't true!).

I bought the audio book and listened to it while driving to Cal basketball games

I was sad when it was over !
