Welcome to the Cal Family, Marcus, and we look forward to your return to Berkeley, this time as a Golden Bear!!!
Bears Add AP FCS All-American CB Marcus Harris
The Bears picked up a big piece on their defensive wishlist with a commitment today from Idaho redshirt junior grad transfer cornerback Marcus Harris. The Bears defeated Idaho in the second game of the season in a tight contest they had to come from behind to win.
Harris totaled 51 tackles, 3 interceptions, 10 passes defended and a half sack in his stellar junior season where he was named 1st team AP FCS All-American and gives the Bears a lockdown corner for their defense.
Harris played football and basketball at Grant High School in Portland and was a special teams dynamo, with 3 kickoff and 3 punt returns for touchdowns in his senior season in 2019.
The 5-11/185 senior redshirted after signing with Oregon State in 2019 before transferring to Idaho for the 2021 season. As a redshirt freshman in 2021, Harris totaled 47 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, seven PBUs and one interception. As a redshirt soph at Idaho, Harris earned 2nd team All-Conference honors with 53 tackles and 2.5 Tackles for loss, a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown and an interception returned for a touchdown (2 interceptions overall) and 14 total passes defended, which tied for third all-time in Idaho history. Harris had the highest Pro Football Focus score of any Big Sky Cornerback and also blocked a PAT against Northern Colorado.
Harris becomes the 20th addition to the Bears’ 2024 class and will be eligible to enroll in spring semester.
