Bears Make Big Addition in Notre Dame Portal Transfer Receiver Tobias Merriweather

The Bears picked up a commitment from one of their top early portal targets today in Notre Dame soph wide receiver Tobias Merriweather‍. The 6-4/205 former Army All-American prepped at Union High School in Camas, WA and was offered by Cal, Stanford, USC, UCLA, Oregon and more before signing with Notre Dame in 2022.

As a soph this season at Notre Dame, the speedy receiver had 14 catches for 284 yards (20 ypc) and 2 TDs for the Irish. 

Merriweather visited Cal earlier this month and has kept a low profile with his recruitment but was pursued by several programs since entering the portal. The 6’4 receiver brings elite speed and length to a Cal receiving corps looking for big targets after the departure of their top 2 receivers in recent seasons.

As a high 4 star prep, Merriweather totaled 97 receptions, 1,538 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns at Union in 27 games.

He becomes the 23rd signee of the Bears 2024 recruiting class.

When you say "another irish name now missing" are you referring to Keeanaaina ALSO now missing from the ND roster? Because the way it reads, it's as if you're suggesting he reneged on his signed agreement with Cal, which would be a pretty big rumor and would need something to substantiate. Either way, it's a very confusing post so maybe you can clarify.
