Bears Fall Short To Oregon State

Ioanna Krimili Reaches 300 Career 3-Pointers

BERKELEY, Calif. – In a game that featured multiple large runs by both teams, the California women's basketball team (12-4, 2-4) fell short to Oregon State (15-2, 4-2), 71-64, Friday night at Haas Pavilion. Ioanna Krimili made one of her five 3-pointers to tie the game at 58-58 with 2:42 left in the game, but the Golden Bears were not able to seal the deal.

Krimili had a game-high 20 points and her fifth 3-pointer gave her 300 for her career, joining just seven other active players in the country who have reached that milestone. Krimili now has 21 career games with at least five made 3-pointers. Leilani McIntosh connected on four 3-pointers and had two steals, which put her in eighth place on Cal's all-time career list, passing Karen Smith. The Bears hit 11 3-pointers to mark the sixth game this season in which they hit double figures from deep.

Oregon State opened the game on a 6-0 run before Cal got on the board with a Marta Suárez hook shot at the 6:08 mark. McIntosh drilled a 3-pointer to bring the Bears to within five points with 4:32 remaining in the opening quarter. Both teams went on a scoring drought over the last two minutes of the quarter and the Beavers went up 15-8 going into the second.

Cal went on a 14-0 run fueled by back-to-back 3-pointers from Kemery Martín and Krimili to give the Bears a 24-17 lead with under three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Cal was able to cause four turnovers in that span and held the Beavers to just one field goal over the last 7:52 of the quarter to go into the half with a 26-21 lead. Martín scored all eight of her first-half points in the quarter.

A Krimili steal led to a fastbreak 3-pointer from McIntosh and Claudia Langarita followed up with a 3-pointer of her own to power a 11-0 run and give Cal a 42-28 lead at the 4:09 mark in the third. The Beavers responded with a 11-0 run to get within two points with 2:19 to go in the quarter. McIntosh ended the run with a 3-pointer and the Bears went into the final quarter with a 47-40 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Beavers used a 11-0 run to take a one-point lead at the 5:44 mark. Krimili got the Bears to within two points on a jumper with 4:09 remaining in the game and then tied the game with her fourth 3-pointer at the 2:35 mark. Oregon State responded with seven straight points before Krimili hit another 3-pointer with 48 seconds left to cut the deficit to four points, but the Beavers went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line the rest of the way to secure the win.

Oregon State was led by Raegan Beers' 19 points and seven rebounds.
